Keep in mind that Ray Ray is retiring, so they can lay off at least 2 dozen lawyers.

Hahhaha, true. But seriously their cap just became qutie complecated.

Okay, I'm leaving those last two words merely because I find it funny how I type when I'm tired. Qutie.

Man that's a lot of money. He was a free agent at the perfect time for him, maybe one of the best times ever with his age and recent success. I have posted my doubts about him many times but do think he deserved a great contract. Highest ever? No, I would have thought 17-18 million but what's 12 million when you are talking about 120 million.

The first increase in 5 years. Not that it affects me as I don't have season tickets. Some teams raise prices every year regardless of success.

My friends tickets are $90, I go with him once or twice a year. That's expensive enough for me.

That's a shit load of money for a mid level QB.... I've had Flacco 2 out of the 3 last years in FF, he's not worth that kind of cash.

That's an overpayment but what else is Baltimore supposed to do? It's not like they can let him walk and play a back up.

To be honest I think he is much happier with that Super Bowl ring than being a good FF player.

Like they say, If you can get the money take it.

Hey I'm all about him making as much as he can.... Just like Romo.

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl too, but he was no where near the best QB in the NFL & neither is Flacco.

I bitched about him for years and he is really up and down in the regular season. And when he has bad games he really really sucks. But even still not being completely sold on him he deserves a great contract. Hes been tremendous in the playoff the last couple years. That counts.
5 years in the league, playoff wins every year. Some teams haven't won playoff gayames in 20 years.
3 AFC championship appearances.
1 Super Bowl win.
As many playoff wins as the great Peyton Manning in less than half the years hes played.a

If in 3 years he sucks it wont be fun but I would still understand the deal.

Plus even when I thought he sucked he seems like a nice guy so I feel happy for him.

Honestly I never thought much of him but this last years playoff run really made me think differently. His TD to INT ratio was awesome and the wins speak for them self.

Dilfer was the first name I thought of too. lol

Yes, he won a SB, but so did Dilfer
so did Doug Williams
so did Brad Johnson
so did Jim McMahon
so did Jeff Hostetler

and a ton of also-rans have made it there and fell one game short

I like Flacco, I think he is good. I think he deserves a fat long term contract from the Ravens, he has proven himself reliable and earned it. But highest?? NOoooooooooooooooo not even. noooooo.. nononononono.
He manages the game well and limits mistakes, which is a good thing... But there were plenty of throws in that playoff run that I saw where it sure looked like Boldin bailed him out on a "why did he throw that??? OH my Boldin just did that??" kind of throw.

If playoff road wins and Superbowl wins and Superbowl MVP's mean you should be the highest paid QB, 'scuse me.. PLAYER... NFL in history... I guess it's time for Eli to re-negotiate, since he has two of them there fancy rings and trophies. lol

I felt the same way about it. His numbers were better than his performance, in my opinion. (He was still quite good, don't get me wrong, but he was also lucky often.) The touchdown pass to tie the game against Denver jumps out most to me. That ball should have been picked off, but the defensive back forgot how to play football for a few seconds instead.
