Not playing on campus has hurt the series.

Also, there are just no polarizing figures anymore. Huggins and Guillen are long gone, and neither team really has a "must see" player.

It would probably also help to push the game back.

It would also help if either team were ranked.

Is that you Harold Reynolds?

Mick's boys rarely get style points.

We suck. We have exactly one player who can score, we don't play any defense, and we don't rebound. Other than that we are pretty good.

After watching that debacle, I have serious doubts whether the Bearcats can even qualify for the NIT. This team looks much like Mick's first at UC where he only had one decent player. At least they won't be embarrassed by having to deal with the Big East this year.

Mick has followed on really bad trait as a recruiter from Huggins...they ignore pure offensive guys. At the end of the day, you will always find a team that has a really good game offensively no matter how good your defense is. If you don't have guys that can put the ball in the bucket, it won't matter. You can teach defense. You can't teach someone offensive talent. Huggins and Mick recruit these long athletes that are defensively good, and hope that they get a self made offensive player...you just can't always rely on finding a Kenyon Martin or a Steve Logan.

Good point. At least Huggins always had a few pure shooters(Durden, Burton, Field Williams). Mick doesn't seem to be as good at finding those. Even Kirkpatrick is more a scorer than a shooter.

The other thing that hurt was that the recruiting classes got out of what at some point...you look at the experience gap this year...you have Kilpatrick and Jackson, and then your next best guy is Sanders, who is a bench player and a jr, and Guyn, who should be a bench player....then the talent level does increase with Thomas, Lawrence, Caupain (who I really like, and will take over for Guyn soon), and Johnson but none of them have any experience, really.

UC does have a 6-11' center and 270lbs, but he's not been cleared by the NCAA. He was a decent recruit as a jr, but tore his ACL and teams backed off....

I don't count RUbles or Nyarsuk because it's really rare for teams to find JUCO's that can come in and really add pure offensive talent. If they had that, they wouldn't be JUCO's.

Huggs had a good knack for finding jucos who could make an impact. Mick hasn't had as much luck there either. No Rubin Patterson's lately.

He just signed an extension. I don't think he's going anywhere right now. He has never replaced Huggins though. Nine top tens in twelve years is hard to match.

I think our inability to land in a major bball conference is going to doom the program to mediocrity.

The football program will carry the bball program with it. We need a proper coach, though.

UC isn't pouring 50 mil into Nippert for the AAC. They want the ACC...and they'll likely get it.

UC was in the Great Midwest and C-USA....in basketball the conference is not nearly as important as football due to the NCAA Tournament. All you need to be is one of the best 64 (68) teams, and you have a shot.

It's not as rigged as football in terms of getting into the BCS or the soon to be playoffs.

The ACC is a good fit for UC.

It's fits in the geological profile as far as location, and the football team would be able to compete in that 2nd tier of teams, as would the BBall team.
