I haven't watched much Tarantino in a while, but I remember Jackie Brown being pretty good.

Both movies are great but it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. Sling Blade is virtually the opposite of RD in the fact that it's a character study that really delves into motivations, back story, and no narration. One of the coolest things about the movie is the fact that it doesn't really have a lot of background music. RD is great because it is a stylistic tour de force that really wasn't around back then.

ALso sling blade doesn't go full retard lol

dam i forgot hostel come on people lol

Wasn't Hostel produced, written, and directed by Eli Roth? I believe Tarantino was one of about 5 "executive producers".

Sling Blade is one of my favorite movies of all time. Both great movies though. The only thing i didn't care for in RD was Steve Buscemi. Probably a whiny little bitch in real life too. :)

Roth's original script was developed by Quentin Tarantino, who also acted as producer on the movie

Hostel was cool, but they destroyed it by making 50.

just really pointing out q's involvment in alot of movies

I think you may be over-representing his involvement in a few of them though.

He's credited only as an executive producer for Hostel, credited only with the story for Natural Born Killers, not the screenplay for example.

Not trying to rip on the guy, but his name gets attached to stuff as a marketing ploy at this point because it virtually guarantees that it will at least turn a profit, but it makes it look like he was more involved in something than he really was.

The reason people think QT is "overrated" is because there is a small pocket of Tarantino fanboys who want to constantly pimp everything he does. Movie snobs dismiss his products as recycled rehashes of stuff that was original in the 70's, and many mainstream audiences see his homage to certain styles of film making as over the top and gratuitous.

2009 Inglourious Basterds

I enjoyed it, I don't think it was my favorite movie ever but I admit I watched it with a douchenozzle who kept "explaining" parts of the movie to me. Personally when I watch a movie I don't need someone telling me about the cool part that's coming up next, or how that actor was also in Four Weddings and a Funeral, and how blah blah blah. That might have wrecked the experience for me, but it mostly seemed like a well done Jew's wet dream. I can get behind anything with mass murder of Nazi's though.

2005 Sin City (special guest director)

I don't know how involved QT was with this movie, but I stopped watching it about halfway through. It wasn't a bad movie, it was well directed, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Sometimes a movie can be a great film and if it doesn't click with me, I just won't enjoy it.

2004 Kill Bill: Vol. 2

2003 Kill Bill: Vol. 1

The Kill Bill series was entertaining, well directed, but definitely aimed at a certain audience. If you like over the top homages to 70's grindhouse and kung-fu movies, you'll probably like these movies. If you are going in expecting Oscar worthy dialogue and a movie that takes itself seriously, you will be disappointed. The Ying to my Sin City Yang, sometimes a movie can be somewhat cheesy and ridiculous, driven more by slick camera work and flash than substance, but if I'm entertained I'm entertained. Not his (or anyone's) best work, but it was a fun ride IMO.

1997 Jackie Brown

My favorite of QT's directorial efforts, this is probably his most classic and traditional films. It's a 70's style blaxploitation/crime caper type movie, and Tarantino avoids his typical style over substance efforts to focus more on the story. I haven't watched it in a while, but at the time it was a very well done flick that Tarantino put his definitive stamp on, but doesn't seem over the top like some of his other movies.

1995 Four Rooms (segment "The Man from Hollywood")

Not a great movie, but his segment is extremely well done and hilarious. It kept me on the edge of my seat, it makes you very uncomfortable before dropping the hammer at the end with a good relief laugh. I don't think I've even watched the first two rooms of this movie. The second two are great though.

1994 Pulp Fiction

It's a very dated movie at this point, but when it came out it was pretty close to groundbreaking. It's a meandering, almost directionless film that relies on quotable dialogue and shock value to entertain. It's still a good movie to day, but it doesn't carry the same impact over time.

1992 Reservoir Dogs

Still a great movie, not as flashy or produced as Pulp Fiction but I think it stands the test of time better. Not many directors could keep your eyes glued without really leaving the small confines of an empty warehouse (well, for about half the movie at least) but Tarantino does it well. Maybe not his best film, but I don't think he's ever captured the "magic" or intensity of this one since.

Those are all the movies that he's DIRECTED, that I've seen. If I didn't mention it, I either didn't see it or he didn't direct it. I believe he wrote the story for Natural Born Killers, which is also a good flick but not something that stands the test of time. From Dusk Till Dawn is OK, I guess... it's another movie that I saw once, was entertained, and don't have any interest to watch again. Many of the movies he's involved in don't have a lot of depth, but again that's not what he's going for most of the time. True Romance was a great story that was killed by crap directing. Ok, the story was a little cheesy too, but it was interesting and original. It's too bad it was directed like a straightforward late 80's action movie/buddy cop film. It could have been a lot better, but it could have been a lot worse without the Walken scene. Talk about a guy with presence. That's about all the QT I've watched, I've never had any interest in the Hostel series. I watched the first Saw and that's about all I need to see of that torture **** genre. I wasn't shocked, or disgusted, just annoyed that a movie tried to use cheap parlor tricks and disgusting shock value to keep me interested. If you want to see disgusting horror and gross shit done properly, watch Se7en. Se7en is a filet mignon, Saw is a pork chop the chef burned and covered in your favorite barbecue sauce hoping you wouldn't notice. I have no interest in Hostel.

Pretty easy to tell his part actually, so I guess you stopped before that.

I don't remember how far in it was exactly, but there's a scene that's shot totally different than the rest of the movie.
