Average star ranking is important, yes. But class rankings, as we've discussed, are not based off average star ranking. Michigan's average star ranking is solid, top 15, and class ranking is top 5.

Last year you said class ranking wasn't important, the most important thing was average star ranking, where on rivals Michigan is about 15th.

Let me send my agents back to last year to see what they can find...

No, I've always made this argument -- even in years where ranked high in the standard class rankings. Those mean nothing.

That prediction was made based off tOSU playing a 3rd string QB and I thought FSU was a 5 loss team that was lucky to be there. I and other Bama fans last year repeatedly said that our secondary was awful last year during the season. We had a good run D and a great attitude, but we were nowhere near talented enough to win it all. We had a fucking RB playing QB.
That sounds like Baylor this year!

And rankings do mean pretty much nothing, except for the state I quoted in my last post about national title winners.

I think team rankings are important only in the context of talking about national titles. I don't think any national title winner in the last 15 years has not had a top 2 class sometime in the previous 4 years. Average star rankings are important because it directly relates the overall star quality of your team and the potential that possesses.

"what's important is what i decide is important, which can change, depending on if i find it currently important or not"

Which I've pretty consistently said is star ranking. But I must admit I'm excited about being ranking high in pointless rankings. So sue me.

Exactly. Star rankings mean a lot more in the macro. It's pretty simple.

It's kind of sad when you have to get excited about your rival having a lot of talent leaving. Giving you a false sense of hope. J.T. Barrett is going to be the best player in the BIG next year. No question really. Ohio State will be a top 10 team in the preseason rankings. No question. Ohio State will be the favorites to win the BIG. No question. Carry on.

Your run defense, and Blake Sims pulling a neil o'donnell impression, are why you lost. Not your secondary.

Which is why I'm a playoff proponent.

During the BCS era think about the number of teams that were in the same position as tOSU that weren't even given the chance to play it out on the field. And Baylor/TCU may well have been just as good as FSU, Bama and Oregon last year. (But, I still think tOSU would have won...even had their been an 8 team playoff.)

TCU destroyed the only other team to beat Bama, and they did it by 40.

They won by 50 and got laughably dropped 3 spots when 0-1 was the only correct answer.

You'd be wrong.

If you took away all of his runs for gains he sucked.

Those 29 yards rushing really do it for you?

I was baffled why they threw the ball so much. It was clear Sims was outmatched.

Bama was up 21-6. The game was over.

You guys don't understand. It is the Superdome! Bama was still reeling from the OU ass whipping in the building.
