Santana will never make it past the minors. His top end was 80 something and we have guys going down and are younger much more valuable assets come post All Star break.

I don't mind this at all. It's a low risk - high reward type deal. If he doesn't work out, there wasn't a lot of money spent. If he does work out and round back into All-Star form, we got one hell of a deal.

There's no risk to this signing. He's not taking up a roster spot. If he can contribute this year, great. If not, you move on. Come June or July, if he's pitching anywhere close to the old Johan it will be a big boost to this pitching staff.Frankly, I just don't get the acquisition. I just don't see him in the majors.
Hmm... so he and Jose Bautista are leaving Proformance and are following agent Jay Alou? I wonder if this will stall things on the signing front.
