The Orioles today announced that they have acquired OF DAVID LOUGH from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for INF DANNY VALENCIA.

Lough, 27, batted .286/.311/.413 in 96 games for Kansas City in 2013, playing all three outfield positions. He finished eighth in the American League Rookie of the Year balloting, leading AL rookies in Wins Above Replacement (WAR) per both Baseball-Reference (2.7) and FanGraphs (2.4, tied with Tampa Bay's Wil Myers).

Burnett lives in MD or something so that may sway him in his last year.

I'll believe it when I see it. The O's have made a few runs at him in the past and he has balked at the thought of playing close to home.

Thats what they said before he signed with the Yanks....same with Tex...and they said the same about Gavin...for what seems like forever...I dont think the appeal of playing in their home town of MD holds as much weight in their decision as we and reporters would like it to.

So this is the left handed hitting outfielder the FO was talking about acquiring this offseason...? Guess that position is officially sealed...hell of a job by the FO going out and filling all our offseason needs with some of the best players around....

I love all the GMs on this site haha. As an openly optimistic person, I wasn't happy with last years off season and despits that the product on the field was pretty good. Again this off season we have had a similar lack of activity, minus these little transactions. Just wait guys because with a little better lineup than KC, he may get better ABs and become a solid option in left/DH (Wherever they decide not to play Reimold). I understand that it seems like the front office isn't doing much, but just trust and support the boys out there giving it their all.

My projections if everyday(145-155 games) is a 12-15hr and 65-75rbi hitter, while hitting .270.

No one is playing GM....This just isnt the left handed hitting LF/DH we were looking for....but it will be spun to us like it is.

I like that we acquired him...I like his hustle..But I would also like to acquire....a left handed hitting LF/DH...

Its ok to be optimistic (which your projected numbers surely are)...just like its ok to be a bit pessimistic....

My numbers? Considering he has never hit more than 12 homers at any level....If every day.....270, 8 hrs, 30-40 rbis. .300-.310 obp

this just means that uuuuuuu isn't a good defensive player at this time . this guys is best as a 4 th of and cheap . I see that lf is nolans job to lose and if he keeps it we are way better than the no arm nate . we lost a good bat in Valencia to get a 4th of . with the way we are stacking up bp arms they may sign a starter and give them a spring invite . our arms are closer to mlb berry , gamboa , drake , edrod , wright !!! which at the moment you have in house for the 5th man job britton matusz sjohnson, stenson , gamboa tj gausman . I would say we are leaning to a lhp for a starter . with that said if britton has a good spring training he will get it since out of options

I think a lot of the success of our shoring up our "depth" (and offseason in general) will be contingent upon resigning atleast one of our core players... jj hardy. If we"re able to do that, then I'm not going to consider the offseason a complete wash. With Ibanez going to the Angels, I don't expect a big splash as far as any more left-handed hitters/dh types.

Still not sure how the rule V pick 3b/1b Almanzar fits into the long term equation, except as potential trade bait. Unless Manny is going to be moved to SS and Hardy is going to be... no, I don't want to think about it, lol.
