Nashville up 3-1 after one. No penalties in the period.
Leafs get FIVE straight powerplays in the second, including 1:40 of 5 on 3.

bingo bango bongo, we've got a 4-4 tie

/caveat... box-score analysis, I'm not watching the game.

If I read the box score right, the Leafs got a 5 on 3 to make it 4-2, they got another one to make it 4-3 and yet another one to tie the game at 4 all over a 4 minute period of time. That seems pretty sketchy, but yeah I haven't seen the calls either. Maybe they were all very obvious.

I know if I was a Preds fan I'd still be pissed though.

I think my tinfoil hat might have left some residue from the Coli-gate thread.
just seems odd that the 2nd least penalized team in the league spends more than half of the period shorthanded, when

a) zero PIMs in the first period (so not a particularly rough game)
b) not a single call goes the other way in the midst of it
c) the score at the end of the 1st

the call to put them 5-3 was a delay of game, so that was probably an automatic. but the rest are hooking / holding variety, which is odd because Nashville is a very good skating and extremely well disciplined team.

Sidenote.....Colin Campbell has e-mailed Terry Gregson to see if any of the penalties were "soft calls".

I have it on good authority that "Colie" had the Leafs and the over tonight...

/Actually, he sent me a profanity laced e-mail, but if you read between the lines, he's doing the happy dance.

Trotz, who isn't shy on commenting on soft calls, has put the blame squarely on his players.

"We gave them momentum by taking penalty after penalty after penalty," said coach Barry Trotz. "When are we going to learn? You have a team down and out, you have them on the floor gasping for air and you let them off the mat. We stopped working, we stopped skating and therefore you take penalties.

"We deserved exactly what we got in the end."

Anything less (in the way of praising the refs) and Colie would have asked for his head on a platter. He's an ONTARIO boy after all...
