The time of year I cherish the most kicks off tonight and not a minute too soon. All of the time spent pouring over rosters, debating depth charts, chiding overly optimistic rivals, and installing new locks on the doors to the Man Cave are now behind us as toe finally meets pigskin on the 2010 season.
For our viewing pleasure ESPN has most of the games tonight on its various outlets while arguably the best matchup, Pitt @ Utah, will be on Versus. Here in my part of the World, the prime time battle will be the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss visiting Columbia and the South Carolina Gamecocks, which I expect to be a very entertaining contest.
Other notable games:
Marshall @ Ohio State (Big 10 Network)
FL A&M @ Miami (ESPN3)
USC @ Hawaii (ESPN)
and
Minnesota @ MTSU (ESPNU) (which without the Blue Raiders' QB Dasher lost much of its upset potential.)
So let's go Southern Miss and hope everyone else's fave doesn't disappoint.
