I was so disgusted by the Broncos performance the other night that I just now got around to looking at the box score. It only amplified my frustration. Can anyone explain why the 3rd ranked rushing offense would attempt only 17 rushes against the 29th ranked run defense?
Even before the game got out of hand it seemed the Broncos we’re trying to force the pass game. I just don’t understand that. Wins matter more than stats. We’re they trying to prove something? Take advantage of DRC’s absence? If so that’s a load of BS. You play your strong game and that’s the run for the Broncos.
I like Siemian. I’m not a doomsday pessimist with him like some fans are. But I’m also a realist and don’t think he’s the type of guy who can shoulder a team and win one on his own. He’s a rhythm passer who can be dangerous if he gets hot. But mostly he’s an adequate guy who is most likely to thrive when the run game is clicking. I’d have traded 200 of his passing yards for another 150 on the ground, which I believe would have entirely changed this outcome.
Since I know Mike McCoy is reading this, and with all due respect to his football knowledge surely being far greater than mine: stick to what you’re good at! Run the ball!
