Closing practice to the public in Kelowna...Why?

Kelowna hockey fans hoping to get an early glimpse of Taylor Hall and the rest of the Edmonton Oilers young players are out of luck.

The Oilers rookies and minor league players will practice at Prospera Place Saturday prior to arriving in Penticton for the 'Young Stars Tournament' which begins Sunday.

Saturday will be busy in and around Prospera with the Oilers practice, the annual Kelowna Rockets season ticket holders barbecue and the Rockets pre-season game with with the Kamloops Blazers that evening.

The Oilers also asked that the practice be closed to the public, meaning there will be no access in the arena prior to the exhibition game Saturday night.

lol

i was just coming here to post this

when the red wings came through kelowna (DURING THE SEASON LAST YEAR!!!) ... open practices by donation and raised a hell of a lot of money for the kelowna food bank

well done Edmonton ... more reason for the fine citizens of kelowna to love those albertans ... it not enough that they drove up real estate prices with their petro dollars and crash into houseboats on the lake with their speedboats (lol)

I remember when I was 9 or 10 years old and the Canucks held a 3 day mini-training camp in my hometown. It was great to get up close to the Canucks (met and got Andre Boudrias autograph).

Just a matter of time before they rename them the "BP Oilers."

you just dont forget those moments

I think I was 9 or 10, and possibly after a training camp practice in the Agrodome right next to the Pacific Coliseum and the players were walking back to the Pacific coliseum dressing rooms with full gear and sneakers when King Richard Brodeur snubbed me with a "not today kid" and John Garrett came right behind him as he was nyucking it up with reporters, signed my broken Reggie Lemelin hockey stick (dont ask !!!!) and said that "Richard can be a real dick" followed by a chorus of funny ha-has

They are trying to hide the new explosive offense that is predicted to score 420 goals this year. Or was it 410?

Harvard scientists predicted 410.

Princeton had them coming in at 420, for what it's worth.
