A pretty vicious slash by Ryan Rupert of the London Knights (as a player on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds celebrates an empty net goal)

Ok, get that guy out of hockey forever. 1 season wouldn't be a big enough suspension.
I doubt the slash hurt so much. The pants usually cover that area unless he got him in the few inch gap between top of pants and under the chest protector.
The thing that pissed me off was he put a lot of muscle into it, after the play was over, after a goal, and then proceeded to throw his gloves off and go to town on him while he was laying hurt on the ice.
Scumbag should not have the privilege to play hockey at this level.
Worse than Dale Hunter!

really? 2 minutes for slashing.
maybe a 10 min unsportsmanlike.
sometimes when you slash people, you slash to hurt them.
this is one of those times.
I hope this is just my sarcasm detector not working...

nope. it was a slash. not a headshot, not highsticking, just a slash.
not that much different than the 2-hander lumberjack shot Corey Perry applied to Sedin's hands late in the game last night.
asshole move to be sure, but a 2 minute penalty.
He did also try to fight the guy while he was on the ice
not defended.... it was a penalty. He took a baseball swing to his midsection after the play was over, and the dropped his glove and started pummeling his defenseless body.
How that can be defended I have no idea.
for the record, I would have given:
4 for slash, 17 for the attempted fight (including instigator and game misconduct).
he would probably miss one game for that misconduct.
and I'd give 2 to the other guy for unsportsmanlike conduct for his acting like a dick after the goal.
if he didn't jump on the guy after, I'd give 4 for the slash + 10 misconduct,
and I'd still give 2 for unsportsmanlike to the other guy.

What would the other guy get 2 for? Scoring? I think the problem most people have is that this was after the play. Do you think that Hunter's hit was just a good check? No, it wasn't...and this wasn't just a slash.
