This has got to be the winner for "dumbest question ever asked".
When an on-ice official reaches a milestone or partakes in his last game, how much of a say does he have about it? Does doing his last game give him more power than a milestone game?
I know I've (at least) heard about refs picking their crew in the minor leagues (AHL) during these situations, but I have no clue how it happens in the NHL. How blonde am I with this?
