I am amazed that I actually forgot about this.
He Stevie Franchise/Eli Manning'd the Clippers.
Damn.....dodged a bullet on that 10 year contract .
After college, the Los Angeles Clippers drafted Ferry in the first round (second overall pick) of the 1989 NBA Draft; he did not want to play with the Clippers,[11] and Ferry soon afterwards accepted an offer to play for the Italian league's Il Messaggero (now Virtus Roma) instead. Ferry made a name for himself overseas as he averaged 23 points and six rebounds per game during the 1989–90 season, leading the Italian club into the playoffs. The Clippers traded Ferry's rights on November 16, 1989, along with Reggie Williams to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for high-scoring guard Ron Harper, two first-round draft picks and a second-round pick.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers signed Ferry to a 10-year guaranteed contract.[citation needed] He had a decent career in Cleveland, but he never became the type of star the Cavs were hoping for based on his outstanding play for Duke.[13] His best season in Cleveland came in 1995–96, when he averaged 13.3 ppg. He had only one other season in which he averaged double figures.
Danny Ferry is just another in a long line of great dook players that simply stunk it up in the NBA. Although I knew his NBA career was gonna be jinxed when he was still playing for Coach Kruzawoooski & people started calling Ferry the next Larry Bird.
Off the top of your head, top 8 NBA players to come out of Duke?
I would have said 10. But, I was getting into Cherokee Parks territory .
In no particular order:
Deng, Boozer, Brand, Hill, ....
Damn....
Kyrie, Battier........How many was that
Maggette
I'm not very familiar with the players pre-1985.
So, that's all I got.
I think Jay Williams would have been good had he not had that motorcycle accident.
Bobby Hurley.....naaaa, he just sucked.
Trajan Langdon
I got his fucking autograph at a Cavs game what a bust!
Maybe Benoit Benjamin or Michael Olowokandi are available?
Did you get Andrew Bynum's autograph?
It's interesting to see how some guys make it, while others don't.
I mean, Trajon should have been what Klay is to the Warriors.
Wally Scerbiak etched out a career that spanned 10 years.
But, Adam Morrison was an epic failure.
I think the situation a guy is in plays a major part.
Dirk was gawd awful year one.
But, Dallas was patient and it paid off.
Another example is Billups.
He and Antonio Daniels looked like gigantic busts the first few years.
That all changed when he landed with the Pistons.
McBuckets is on the clock....
The first move in the Ballmer era for the Clippers was basically a money dump. Cost them a first-rounder in the process. This move does bring them to the minimum roster of 13 players as they dance around the hard cap.

With Spencer Hawes in the fold, Jared Dudley was expendable
Not sure about that. One is a center and the other is a swingman. Looks to be a move made out of necessity in order to fill out a minimum squad. The Clippers are hard capped this season.
