They don't max $ available next summer.

Depending on what they do the rest of the offseason... they could actually have enough max room.

Love will be around $20 mill.

With Varejoa coming off the books next year at $10 mill... that's half way there already. They've get plenty of other moveable contracts (for now) in Bennett, Thompson, Waiters, etc that they could get it done.

BUT... if they trade for Love they get his bird rights... which would allow them to sign for over the cap and not have to shed any salary. Then again... they'd probably have to trade the same people they'd shed next year... so maybe its a bit of a wash.

I saw bummed out when Bennett left UNLV after one year. He's gotta improve from his disastrous rookie year though.

Yah, maybe some of the pressure will be off of him, especially sonce Bron there now.

I hope he can be a good 3 coming off the bench.

Yes he could, however, he WANTS 2 play with LBJ.

Then why not just tell the Wolves that?
Seems like there wasting a lot of effort negotiating with other teams.

And Haywood. His contract is worth about $10 mil next year, if they get rid of him they can get that salary back. That was a huge pickup, for that reason.

Maybe, but Love also stated he isn't interested in the Cavs after James committed to just a 2 year deal. Not sure where I heard that, but that was the fallout from him signing such a short contract.

Yeah, there are a couple possibilities...

1) While Kevin would love to play with LeBron, he's also not opposed to other potential scenarios. He could be to the point where's just eager to get out of Min and would welcome any number of good situations.

2) The Wolves know he only wants to go to the Cavs, but are in talks with other teams as part of their negotiating tactics with the Cavs. If the Cavs think other teams are making good offers or are close to getting Love, they may be quicker to up their bid.

Wasn't his current 2 year deal a business decision so he can get more money out of a max contract when the salaries go up in a couple of years?

No, that was a thought that many people conjectured when the contract first went down.

Its been reported by several people since that Love's interest is just as high, unaffected by Lebron's contract. I think Love, like most people, realized that the short-term contract has very little to do with the prospect of LeBron leaving Cleveland any time soon.

I agree with this.

If Love is telling them (the Cavs)otherwise, then its no tactic at all.
