If I only have one pick, I'm guessing Goff at 4. Think we go defense, but that's like 10 possible guys to pick and kills my odds of picking the right one. If you guarantee me Jack is healthy I may change to him, but seems his injury is lingering for too long now...

This is really tough. I like Bosa, but I think Buckner has a much greater upside .He could play end or tackle in a 40 front
That said, if there were one player that I'd take above anyone if he were there, it would be Wentz. I'm sold. I think he is gonna be a great pro QB

To be clear I was guessing who I think the team will take, not who I would necessarily take.

I guess right now I would want Wentz. Romo may go through the next 2years injury free who knows. With a broken bone it's hard to say or it could be something else. But the thought of not having someone on the roster that is being groomed is scary. Moore might end up the backup this year who knows but the reason I would want Wentz now is we are here with the 4th pick hopefully the plan is NOT to be up this high in the draft again anytime soon unless we trade to get there. So he seems like he might be a guy worth the pick, qb's are a crap shoot more than any other position but sometimes you gotta roll the dice. Now who do I think we end up with? Probably Bosa or Buckner.

My guess is if Ramsey is on the board at 4, he's our pick. If Ramsey's gone, we take a trade that is on the table (there should be several with a QB on the board). Philly, SF & STL all could covet that other QB.
Scenario: Our board has a near even tie between Jack/Bosa/Hargreaves/Lawson. We are open to move back no more than those 4 spots. Likely trades in that range are SF & Philly. We play them vs each other and we reap a hansom reward. I think we end up trading with SF for their picks #7 & #37 plus a future pick. Most of our guys could still be on the board at #7 (I assume Bosa and Buckner go 5,6). The move back makes sense if we don't covet one pick over the other. The value in the trade is more than picking between those prospects. There is a slim chance we may end up trading a second time, but I don't think the value in the trade will be as rich the second time (no QB & no multiple teams bidding).
So we either draft "the top player on our board" (Ramsey), or we gain a great player (Jack) plus another solid one at #37.

Knock on wood because Jerry is capable of anything but realistically I'll be happy with just about anybody we take. I can talk myself into liking most of the big names that have been thrown around. Ramsey is my ideal pick if he's there.

Would anyone be willing to trade UP to #1 for Wentz? I would, if it were 1st and 3rd

I can't do that. I'm sorta like jerry in respect to winning now and with the stars being aligned and all....this team ain't half bad. Twenty years is already a long time to wait considering the Cowboy history in the first 35 years

Nothing wrongv with that. I just think of how hard it is to find a QB and how many teams are stuck perpetually losing because they can't find one. Cleveland spending 1st after 1st on QB's and still looking, whereas Tennessee and TB....now that they have their guy, everything else seems easier. With Wentz, a couple of years behind Romo and then playing behind a great OL, sounds pretty good....

It does indeed and why I wouldn't come on here and bitch if that's what happens. I don't have the same warm fuzzy about the Cal QB. I think his learning curve the first two years will be greater due to the offense he ran at Cal.

I'm not big on Goff, played poorly against the better teams, system QB. Wentz is 6'5'', great arm, made a huge impression at the SR bowl with his leadership ability. He couldn't play right away, but I think if he sat and learned a couple of years, we could have another Romo level QB

cant get to 1 with a 3rd IMHO

Wentz has been my pick all along at QB but you never know with trader Jerry and the draft

Contingency plans and or different plans must be in place who know how it will go.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports "many execs and coaches" around the league believe Cal's Jared Goff is "more ready to play" than North Dakota State's Carson Wentz.

This really isn't a surprise since Goff is coming out of the Pac-12 while Wentz must make the adjustment from the FCS. Both players have prototypical size, though Wentz's hands are bigger and his arm stronger. Signs suggest the Browns will be choosing between the two signal callers at No. 2 overall.

Funny how often they talk about Goffs hand size. Did they shrink since the season ended???

The Jack dilemna may go down to the last minute:

Myles Jack - LB - Player
NFL.com reports that UCLA LB Myles Jack's right knee is "fully healed," but that he's unlikely to run the 40-yard dash before the draft.

"He's close, but he's not totally ready, and I'm not gonna let him go out there and run an average time," Jack's agent said. Those words, of course, suggest Jack isn't "fully healed," after all. Jack tore his meniscus in September. It's a bit of a red flag that he doesn't feel 100 percent comfortable sixth months after the fact. Jack is still widely expected to be one of the first 10 players off the board in next month's draft.

Great Wonderlic for Wentz. Both seem pretty smart

Carson Wentz - QB - Player
North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz reportedly scored a 40 on the Wonderlic Test.

It's an outstanding score on the Wonderlic, which is a timed test of 50 questions. Cal's Jared Goff also did remarkably well, scoring a 36. Wentz and Goff seem to have separated themselves from Memphis' Paxton Lynch as this year's top-two draft-eligible signal callers. Lynch's Wonderlic score has not been reported.
