I think it's pretty far off to be honest. Nebraska is not a great team, but it is obvious that our record is a direct result of being in the best Conference in the country by far.

There are teams ahead of us in those rankings that we kicked the shit out of this season. USC and Wake being a couple of them. We beat Wake by 20 points on the road and then they go and beat a couple ranked teams including NC State and they also lost to Duke at the buzzer....

I think Nebraska is a top 80 team and would be in the top half of many Conferences out there. It is obvious to me based on how the OOC went and now how the in Conference is going.

Take a look at the RPI.....it is much better IMO.

And for the record, the selection committee has always used the RPI as a measuring stick for which teams qualify. Usually if you are in one of the major conferences and you are near the top 60 you have a good chance of being selected.

Most years they take a few teams in the 60-80 range as well depending on quality wins and SOS. So in reality Nebraska is probably not as far off as some people think. Realistically we could sneak in next season if some of this young talent pans out like we think it will.

I give NU a better than 4% chance myself. The offense has the ability to be a scoring explosion the likes of 83' and the fixtures are gone. Just a top 30 rushing defense will keep NU competitive against UCLA, Michigan, and tOSU.

Not saying NU can win the N/C but I believe their chances of playing in it are better than 4%.
