OC: Callahan ain't leaving and doesn't want the gig. Matt Cavanaugh ain't leaving, and DOES want the gig. KC thinks MC is awesome. Since the redskins might sign KC, it makes sense to just announce MC as the O-Coord already.
DC: I mean... damn. Bradley doesn't want the gig. Phillips didn't want the gig. Pettine may or may not want the gig. Manusky has many years of experience at being sub par. Fuck it: sign the unknown guy - Tarver - who is young and has something to prove, and go from there. He has recommendations from people....
KC: Pay the man. Or, tell him that you're going to place the non-exclusive franchise tag on him and allow him to set his own mark. Make sure you let the other teams in the NFL know that it'll cost 2 first round picks to sign KC, nothing less. If some team wants KC's exorbitant salary AND to give away 2 first round picks, so be it.
With KC, I waffle almost daily. On the one hand, he's pretty damn good most of the time. I don't care if he's "elite" or "almost elite," or "above average," but he's not even average, and he's probably closer to "almost elite" than he is to "above average." I also think McVay is probably right: KC wants to get better, and will continue to get better. This year I know he checked off his primary and secondary wr a lot more than he did last year.
On the other hand, no one player should hold the rest of the team hostage. If KC was a team player, he'd take market value - FAIR market value - from the team that gave him a shot, so that the team can continue to put pieces around him to be successful. Wanna put up Madden NFL stats, Kirk? Take $20 million a year guaranteed, in addition to the $18 million guaranteed you played on last year, so we can sign either Garcon or Jackson for you to throw to, Leary from Dallas to protect you, and a new rb to hand off to.
