He could be the 2 deep zone buster, Boomer said the middle of the field is open and Manning would call plays to capitalize on it.

Dalton showed he IS capable of making that throw, too, which is something I had previously doubted. And why can't we get our tight ends to make those plays on a weekly basis?

because Gresham is holding the starting tight end spot and he simply isn't capable of that.

Gresham, mentally, just can't get it done. The penalties, the drops...he's got the talent, but he lacks focus. Too intent on making a big play when he only needs to worry about doing his job.

I think you nailed it. His desire to make huge plays gets in the way of just making the play that is there.

Dalton has made that throw to Gresham this year -- Once he caught it and the other time he dropped it.

It's time to go in a new direction.

The only thing I would like to really see is more deep passes to someone not named AJ.

He's doubled. We all know that before the ball is ever thrown. If the safety is going to double over AJ, either the other WR is 1-1 or the slot WR is 1-1.

Fly route by Jones, a post route by Eiffert and then a deep out by AJ to draw the extra safety cover.

If it's cover 2, Eiffert is open. If the other safety moves to the center of the field, Jones is 1-1 deep. He's got good speed, and even if they don't connect, the idea of this offense starting to take shots down field at a WR other than Jones will make the defense start paying attention to more than just AJ deep.

Use him all the way until Hawkins returns then move Sanzenbacher to Punt returns and Tate to kick returns only....Hawkins and Sanzenbacher alternate on slot plays.....Sanu and Jones share the number 2 role.....

I don't see how they can suit up all three guys. Tate's not going to sit, because they think he won them the game Sunday with that punt return. Sanz probably sits when baby Hawk comes back.

Its also entirely possible that Hawk is still a little gimpy and they decide to keep him out.
