Not A Huge Fan of Paul But This Pisses Me Off

Let me just say somethin real quick.......Niles Paul NEVER complained about getting touches. That is a fabricated lie based on the hatred that a lot of fans have for him simply because he has contributed to some losses. Here is a direct quote from Niles Paul last week when asked if he is upset about not getting enough touches: "No. Not at all. I enjoy my role as a blocking receiver. Like I said, we can run the ball all day if that's going to get us to a national championship."

There now that that's taken care of. Niles Paul also NEVER whined about what the fans said to him after the game. Pelini is the one who brought it up, and the media simply asked Paul a few questions about it. Paul said he didn't want to talk too much about it but he said an example of something they said was "We don't want you, go play for Texas."

Fans are twisting this kid into something he's not..........he's not the arrogant "I want the ball but I'm not getting it" prick that everyone is trying to make him out to be. Has he sucked?? Yea he has sucked, quite a few times. But he's a college athlete, not a professional athlete, and a Husker fan who taunts a Husker player is A LITTLE BITCH.

Paul did admit that in the first few games he was not fair catching punts because he wanted to return the ball, but he said since that time he has learned that it hurts the team.

Niles Paul looking to have more of an impact

1620 was reporting the facebook thing. They had quotes from him, not Pelini, regarding taking it down because of the hate mail people were posting on his page.

So reading through that whole article there is only one thing he said that could even come close to complaining and that would be this quote:

"But when we've got certain advantages or mismatches, I felt like we should take advantage of that on the outside. They put a corner on me that I'm twice the size of. I felt like we could have taken advantage of that."

If people wanna twist that into "complaining" then I'd say the Media is getting exactly what they want from us fans..........they want us to turn this into drama.

Also, Pelini did start the discussion about Niles Paul and the taunting fans.........Pelini said he would like to punch those fans, but that he realizes that some fans are gonna be that way and he has talked it over with Niles and Niles understands that he just has to not pay attention to it.

Bottom line is, Paul didn't even want to talk about it......the media asked for an "example" of what the fans were saying to him.

And yes you are exactly right. As someone who has played many sports, negativity from fans would be difficult to take positively. When a coach yells at a player, it's a different deal.

I always liked when my coach yelled at me. I never had any fans yell at me, but I imagine that would be pretty horrible as an athlete who wants to help his team win.

This issue is just another in the long list of stuff that I bring up when I say that The "best fans" title for Nebraska fans is a joke. Fans of all teams are generally the same. There is a group of freak super fans, a group of casual fans, and a group of bad fans in every fan base. To do what those group of fans did was horrible and inexcusable!!!!!

I agree with you. I have had Husker season tickets for 35 years now and have been to all the stadiums around here. It's the same no matter where you go. There are good fans who treat you well and bad fans who treat you bad. I have also had Chiefs season tickets now for about 10 years and the NFL is way worse for vistiting fans than any college school.

Im gonna agree with jwelsh here...what the fan did wasn't right, but niles paul or pelini sitting there and complaining about it isn't any better. They gotta shake that off and just ignore it. Its gonna happen no matter where you play or coach a football team.

You should have stopped right after the bold above. There is absolutely NO "buts" in this situation. Normal criticism, yeah brush it off. Personal attacks to his face in front of his family and on his personal Facebook page is a whole other issue. I applaud Niles for not beating the fuck out of any and all assholes that said that stuff to him because if he would have then I would have congratulated him on doing it. It is just flat out not acceptable on any level for someone to do that. No "ifs", "ands", or "buts" about it.

And another thing, I question the sanity of people that are friending college athletes on Facebook that don't know them other than that they play for their favorite team and not a reporter. You are a loser in my mind if that is the case. Some of my Facebook friends are friends with players and they have never met and I tell them the same thing.
