He decided I was that eSPN dude because I said the Fister trade wasn't that bad, on the Mariners board. Lol

I really never thought that much of Fister. Woulda been a great Trade for Detroit getting rid of him, if they hadn't went and got rid of Robbie Ray a year later.

I liked Fister as a Mariner - and his run support was so low it was criminal while was in Seattle - but M's fans are very fond of comparing every trade and deciding if the M's won the trade or lost the trade (usually concluding they lost it). The entire M's board consensus was that the trade was a loss from the moment it happened and anyone who didn't agree was either a homer or trolling.

I didn't even know Fister was still playing. Good for him.

He was good.

Really impressive run he had. Never really am a believer in guys who need Great off speed and location. Too hard to do. But he did it for a few years really really well. Was a lot of fun to watch too.

Starting my spreadsheet that will outline this entire draft—needs, players drafted, round and value to get my results of the teams that did the best overall job in this draft. GL to everyone lol

I really do think "needs" are the most over-rated thing in drafting... Only time needs matter is if you are a player away from competing and you addressed that need...

Needs are important if only because it means you should trade up or trade down to match the talent.

Fit matters a lot. Its always sad to see a really good defensive player traded for peanuts because someone is switching from the 4-3 to the 3-4 or vice versa.

Talent is still the biggest factor at the end of the day. Nobody is winning in the NFL without talent.

I have a couple of rules of drafting:

1. Dont draft a WR if you don't have a QB
2. Dont draft a QB in the first 3 rounds unless you get an elite QB in the top 5 picks.
3. if you need a QB ALWAYS try hard to trade up for it
4. if you do draft a QB, the next Pick(s) must help him(offensive line or WR/TE)

Does fit really matter?? I mean, it is not player A's fault for never playing in a 3-4 defense... why pass on them SOLELY because they never played your system?? system played in college should ONLY be a tie breaker IMO...

I don't know if I agree with #2.

Lots of mid tier QBs bust but its a risk-reward. You just have to do your homework.

I don't mind drafting a QB late- like I did in this draft... I just think if you want to get a franchise QB you need to get the best available at your FIRST pick... so drafting a QB in the second and third makes NO SENSE to me...

and if you are not drafting a QB in the top 5 picks then you are likely not getting an elite QB(of course there are exceptions)... do you really want a Project QB in the first round?? remember there are only 32 starting QBs, chances are unlikely that without an elite pick that you would get your top QB on your board... and likely not the 2nd...
QB success comes from Confidence as much as it does skill, WHY MESS WITH A QB's CONFIDENCE???

I get that this season is a bit of an outlier with so many QBs...

That makes sense for the less competitve teams but the less competitive teams still have their strengths and weakness, even the Browns. Their defense was actually pretty good, secondary was awful. Would it be smart to take a top LB? I guess the point is value like you important also but not if the pick makes no sense. My grading system wont be too hard on the “needs” aspect I just like to have it all out there.

Really depends on what slot you're drafting from. I tend to lean towards BPA when it comes to drafting late in the 1st Rd. Most times you get caught reaching if drafting for need. But in this mock, BPA matched with our #1 need so it was a homerun pick.

The only people more confident than a backup QB are starting QBs, Donald Trump and every average looking drunk girl in every karaoke bar.

Backup QBs are like the 40th best at what they do in the world

of course... everything depends on something else... Just trying to spark debate because I am really bored... I have been listening to motivational speeches from @Nosferatu and @Pack 500 ...

Man, the academic application of Newton's Third Law is kicking my ass. So glad I am not going into physics - I don't think I'd pass my first physics course.
