I disagree with your conclusions based on your numbers because of #1 in the bolded. I don't believe that we would have tired their defense out, because the only way we could move the ball (and extend drives, thus keeping them on the field) was to throw the ball. When you average 2.2 YPC, you don't get a first down running the ball, the defense gets off the field, and they get to rest. We simply couldn't run it. Our line is incapable of run blocking, and when they do manage to create a hole, our backs usually miss it unless it is Grand Canyon sized (like against Minnesota).
As for #2, I don't think they forgot, I just don't think they are very good at it. Having Abdullah in the backfield can cover up a lot, but we all saw how often he had to make a play entirely on his own as a result of the O-line not blocking well.
Newby was hurt and hardly played in the second half. All together including Newby, we were only at like 3.2 YPC, and then we didn't have Newby available. At the half Newby was averaging 4.6 yards per carry and that was when Riley said he had determined we couldn't run the ball.
Tommy ran 12 times for 13 yards, which is what carried that YPC down so far. The 2.2 stat is deceiving. We were running the ball with ease in the 1st half, I still don't understand why he said that at halftime.

I'm on my phone so I don't have the breakdown in front of me, so that 3.2 number is a guess. It wasn't an overwhelming number by any means though.
I just don't remember Janovich getting any carries in the NW game ~ I could be wrong of course as I'm prone to be so, but the fullback carries seemed to have gone away without any logical reason. If I'm right about this, it is another mystery AND why many of us are shaking our heads in total disbelief about the play-calling. I wish (in vain) that his staff would bring back the old counter trey that the Washington Redskins borrowed from us. To me (and possibly only me) this staff looks at running the ball as a chore. It also could be that they want to pass more than run as proof that the QB recruits will be here to pass the ball first and hand off second ~ just a thought.
He got a couple I think. Imani got a few as well.

Where are you getting your numbers R_A? I just took mine off the play for play on Espin. By that Cross was 3 carries for 1 yard in the first half and 5 for 17 in the second. Of course this method requires my math to be good. I think it was.
and then again you may have smoked too much weed ta boot thar --charlie brownThese 2 teams are awful. Nebraska has no defense and NW has a good defense but a QB that can only run the ball.
Felt like I was watching a football game in slow motion
I think you got a different game there.....
