Yeah, thought there might be a hold up with the agent change since there were conflicting reports regarding a 5 day wait for official signing.

This will be a fun match up to watch. Norman won the mental not the physical part last year.

I'll reserve judgement in two ways:

1. See how he performs
2. See what happens in the Redskins future. This has Danny's handprints all over it. Redskin One, sending Redskin officials, bring his mom

Lastly that is a lot of money for a guy with one Pro Bowl. Who do we go out and overpay for next. Looks like the same old Redskins to me. :noidea:

I thought he would get 40M guarantee but he got 50M. Yes he is the highest paid CB in the NFL. But we gave up nothing to get him. So the 10M risk is worth it. This has to bet he deepest Cb group in Redskins history.
Wrong. We did give up something. A big chunk of money that could have been used filling other holes. Multiple holes.

Being able to sign now is why he has not filed the papers to fire his old agent. He is "Technically" represented by both at the moment. So he can sign the deal with us. Its a nice parting gift for his old agent who will still get a cut of the deal, and it prevented him from having to wait until the day before the draft to get a deal in place.

Yeah, conflicting report was whether his old agent was still a co agent or not.

Sorry but I have to disagree. If SMGM was not on board I doubt this deal happens.

Sure Dan put on the Spit and Polish with RS1 and sending the coaches. But if SMGM wasnt on board, this doesnt happen. Really if Danny were running things, this would have cost us this years and next years first rounders because Danny would have no issue signing a guy from under the franchise tag and we all know it.

Josh Norman agrees to five-year, $75 million deal with Redskins

According to JLC, Norman is making $51M in the first three years of the deal, all of which comes in the form of guaranteed money. Depending on how the last two years are structured, this could be a three-year deal, which, given Norman's age, makes a whole lot of sense.

Guys, forget the money.. it's the cost of doing business in the NFL these days. You want quality you have to pay premium. We built thru the draft with KC and guess what,,, he cost us premium... it is what it is.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Still have to wait a day or two to see what is truly guaranteed and how it's laid out.

Not exactly same old skins but enough things to make some of us old time fans a bit nervous.

So Norman gets 17m per season in the first three years. So no cap friendly deal here at all.

That depends on what the "guarantees" are in those years. But I get your point: this is a lot of money for the next three years. But we're paying him for his prime, i.e., before he turns 32. And that's where the cap friendly portion of the deal comes in.
