Also, heavyweights are only supposed to fight other heavyweights. Chara is not supposed to fight Martin St. Louis. Technically, Chara should probably only fight four or five guys in the league.

"The Code" is really about respect. It is an unwritten guide in which some things are either done or not done to show respect for other players or teams or the game. If someone takes a cheapshot at a player "the code" demands that the other team do something to remind that player to respect the game. If someone takes off their helmet in a fight "the code" suggests you do the same. (if the helmet gets knocked off there is no need to remove yours but it is good form to do so).
