True, and I agree that chances are they're moving, but knowing who is running the league? No idea who is going where or staying where.

Might also be interesting to note that if the team does move that although Winnipeg is a great candidate for a team relocation, Bettman is kind of notoriously known for not wanting to put more teams in Canada in the near future. His plan has always been to expand the sport in the U.S. So I wouldn't be surprised that if the team moves that there isn't some type of controversy over where the team relocates.

Right, but when you look at the other cities that deserve a team or are able to support one those only reside in Canada at the moment. There's really few cities in the US that are ready right away to provide for an NHL team.

firstly name the city and secondly name the potential owner in that city

i havent seen or heard a single thing about anyone other than Chipman/Thompson wanting to buy the coyotes and move them

Good point. It seems that the only owners willing to step up of that are those who want to move the team north. I think Bettman just has to suck up his pride for once and send them to Canada. :canada:

I know no facts, but I heard KC has an NHL ready arena... But who the fuck wants another team in Misery?

Realistically that's going to be the most compelling reason as to why a team could end up back in Winnipeg. Regardless of that fact though, I wouldn't put it past Bettman to see a wrench being thrown in there. Not saying I don't like the guy, it just seems to be outside of the goals that he's been working on for years now.

The Scouts were an awful failure, but who knows with how the sport has changed, and in relation to diminishing likelihood of other sports being played this season, whether a team could be successful there now.

Ive posted it before ...right now ... there are 2 teams in definitive risk of relocation at the end of this year ... 2 other teams that are close to joining that group in the year after that

and yet the only real turnkey option for Bettman is a team in Winnipeg (well I guess he can ask the BOG to fund another 40 mill loss in Phoenix next year)... it isnt premature ... odds are they are getting their team back

I think Winnipeg could care less as long as they got a team back. Something fresh would probably help them as far as merchandising goes...but if I were up there I'd just wear my Jets stuff anyway.
true enough. on both parts, actually. It may take a few years for the retro-cool factor to wear off.
Hell, I know people who have been wearing Jets jerseys through the whole time.
Well at least they want the entire Province involved. That's more than we can say about the State of Arizona.
Saskatchewan Roughriders is the model for inclusion. Rider Nation is fierce within Saskatchewan's borders, and prevalent throughout the country.
It's what Ovie used to play before someone taught him defense
Mike Green, too!
Are they seriously already picking names and schemes out though? Isn't that a little premature?
as Jstew pointed out - Winnipeg is a turn-key solution, where no other solution is even close. why not have the whole package? it only strengthens the case.

i think the entire board of governors was on board with this ... because ballsy intended to move the team to Southern Ontario FOR CHEAP

they want to save the southern ontario market for expansion some day so all the owners can split a plus 500 mill dollar expansion fee

most likely, i really get the feeling he just feels he can do whatever he wants once he gets a team. but, unfortuenately his past would indicate that bettman will kill himself before he lets him get a team without going through court about 7 times

however i really have to believe if a team went to southern ontario, they would need, like you said, that massive revenue sharing, the sabres would be in deep shit otherwise.

more so than the leafs i think
