Who?They are scared to death that McCarron will play well and create a qb controversy so they are putting this out there so Dalton will be back in time for Baltimore
I don't doubt that if Dalton can go, he will be the guy. However, to say they don't want AJ to do well because of some silliness with Dalton, contract, etc...etc...is dumb. The bengals are. Dalton is their guy come hell or high water.

I have no doubt that they will do what is best for the team to win games come playoff time. If they feel it's Dalton, then fine. If they don't feel his thumb is ready, then AJ will get the nod.
Way too many conspiracy theorists.
So say Dalton is not quite ready to go come first playoff game, and McCarron has to go. McCarron wins that game in his first try. Dalton is ready for the next week. Is there a controversy for that next game as Dalton hasn't played for weeks and McCarron won his first playoff game in his first chance? I mean, was it McCarron, or was it a healthy arsenal of weapons for him to throw to?
Then say they do start Dalton, but Dalton loses that next game? Regardless of where it is at and who the opponent is, won't Dalton get the blame regardless after seeing McCarron win the week before in his first try? Will management be second guessed on their decisions? Will the axe come a little closer to Dalton? Will A.J start getting trade offers for him?
What veteran QB are we going to try and sign if McCarron goes down? Campbell? Someone else?
Lots of questions marks surrounding the next several weeks of the season.
Dalton is done for this season. No way he's healthy enough to play even if they manage a 1st round bye.
Lots of folks on this board wanted to see AJ McCarron. Now is your opportunity. I like the kid and hope he does well. 2 of the 3 remaining games are winnable. Let's take it one step at a time.
AJ McCarron is not winning a playoff game. Let's just stop that right now.
Of course there will be no QB controversy even if McCarron plays well. Why should there be? This isn't Bledsoe/Brady. We've finally seen Andy Dalton take that step forward and become the focal part of the team this year. He's done nothing to warrant being replaced. He will have to wait another year for that playoff win, but I've seen sufficient progress to stomach Dalton as the starter for a while longer.
