We got a good as chance as the other teams vying for that last spot. So Tampa holds the spot now... I see them losing 2 of there last 4. Lets wait at least one more week before talking about the draft. This game against Philly is the biggest of the season. If we win we aint in... but if we lose I think we aint gonna get in.

Magic 8 ball.. will Skins beat Philly this week?

"All signs point to yes"

... and magic 8 ball neva lie... do it pops.

Guys... IM just not seeing us getting in as a nine win team. And to be honest, from what we saw the last two games, this might not even be an eight win team. There isnt a game left I dont think this team cant win, but there also isnt a game left that this team cant lose. Philly will be playing to play spoiler next week. We arent officially done yet, but aside from winning the next three, and getting some help from other areas.. .we are on the outside looking in.

Well as they say that is why they play the games. If this was all simply based no projections then the Redskins would likely already be in the playoffs. But guess what? It doesn't work that way. Forget about the playoffs - the next few games will be a good test for the Redskins in terms of their toughness & ability to not quit altogether. Maybe they will surprise us - maybe not.

Another huge factor in this has to be the fact that several players are likely playing for their future on this team. We will see.

No one has even mentioned Atlanta. Although they have a fairly easy schedule the rest of the way. A lot of football left to be played, a lot of teams still in it. Win and things will take care of itself.

Atlanta leads their division at the moment. Right now the Skins are trying to get the #6 wild card seed.

Teams we have to worry about

Tampa, Arizona, Green Bay.

If you honestly tink 9-7 might secure the #6 seed, then throw Philly inthere as well although they would need to run the table to do it. And they would need some help as well.

True, I guess what I was getting at is that a lot can change over the next month. Detroit and Atlanta both still have work to do to secure their division. Mathematically a lot of teams are still in it and we don't necessarily have to win out to get in.

Only way that the Eagles get in is if they run the table which would include them beating the Redskins next Sun. If that happens I think that you can pretty much kiss the playoffs goodbye. I am not even sure if I would be unhappy if the Redskins were to miss the playoffs rather than completely backing in. At least it would not give them a false sense of security about their talent & might force them to address some glaring needs.

Really eh. Even if it meant KC having multiple average to below verage games in the next 4 weeks? Last week it was guanateed, Win all your games and you're in. This week the odds are still pretty damn good if we win out we're in.

I can dig where @SoCalWizFan is comin from far as not making the playoffs possibly being good for the Skins. But we're not 10-2 or 9-3, we're 6-5-1 and riding a 2 game losing streak at present. We already know the Skins have significant defensive issues. To include tackling at every level of the defense, getting off the field on 3rd dn/giving up too many 3rd n longs. Getting straight the fuck clowned by big time players like Antonio Brown, David Johnson etc. A lack of physicality, playing a scheme that oftentimes seems too simplistic and basic. A pass rush that's more smoke and mirrors than anything else.

Damn falling out of the playoff mix now though. IMO it would reflect too negatively on KC and/or Gruden. If the Skins finish 10-5-1 and make the playoffs. That'll be a hellified boon for KC and Gruden.

i would prefer going to the dance with confidence & swagger ... putting up 40 points consistently.

going with a date who only said yes because nobody else invited her & then having her dance with other guys & doin the dirty under the bleachers is not my idea of a good time.

This guy. Good lord.... this guy! Thank you, Bears fan! Voice of reason.

A) No one said you need a four game win streak. 9-6-1 could be more than enough to get in.
B) NYG may miss the playoffs... they finish with DAL, DET, PHI and WSH. Could easily be a win and in scenario the final game of the season.
C) Your next three games prior to that: PHI, CAR and CHI... hard to imagine you're not favored in all of those.
D) YOU'RE A HALF GAME BACK! WITH A MONTH LEFT! lol...

If you want to say; "I don't think we're going to make the playoffs"... that's obviously fine. However, to literally say that the draft is the next topic up, is ridiculous. That there is nothing left of this season. That is utter nonsense, and I hope you know that and are just pissed.

A win next week and all of the sudden things are looking up. A lot of ups and downs in a season. Have to ride it out. Your season is not over a half game back and a month left. This much I know. lol

What remains to be seen is how the team responds after getting hammered by Gruden after the game.
They COULD run the table, and probably should.

Here's why:

Wentz has been figured out, the right side of the oline is in shambles, the Eagles lack playmakers, and they have a crappy secondary.

The Bears have even less weapons, a true rookie qb, a mediocre defense, and are very one dimensional.

The Panthers are simply done: too injured, too slow, too everything.

The Giants have OBJ and Eli, which is enough to make any interdivisional game interesting, but very little after that. They can't run the ball, they are injured, they aren't good. They feasted on a third place schedule for a while, but now they are into the hardest part of their schedule. If the playoffs are on the line at the end of the season, the Redskins will win this by 14.

This^^^^^^ Backing into the playoffs particularly if Cuz has a couple less than impressive games in the next month does the Skins little to any good imo. It certainly wouldn't be a step forward from last year and that's what I'm looking for from this team, progress.

I was thinking the same thing. We don't need to run the table necessarily, 9-6-1 beats 9-7 and just may be good enough. I'm with Dad, just get in anyway possible, gain more playoff experience and the season has been a success.

I can understand where you are coming from, but I am not worried about the future of either Gruden & certainly not Cousins barring a complete disaster for the rest of the season. I would guess that the team evaluates players & coaches completely differently than your average fan (hope so). They understand the strengths & weaknesses (several of which you pointed out very well) better than anyone & realize that it doesn't all fall on the QB and coach. My guess would be that their plan for the offseason is pretty well set at this time barring any major injuries.

Also - don't get me wrong in terms of if the Redskins don't make the playoffs. I hope 100% that they do make the playoffs. However - if they don't I won't go nuts since I still believe that this team is heading in the rt direction & some of the losses may help them long term in helping to identify issues and improve moving forward.

Put up or shut up time for P. Smith. He came on strong during the latter part of last season & needs to do the same now. Rumor was that he was freelancing somewhat during Cards game - need to be disciplined in order to help the entire team. HTTR
