To lessen the likelihood of more offensive injuries, I could see BB go heavy running and more Lafell and Chandler. Will be hard to run this week against Buffalo though.

The hope is that Martin returns for the Bills game. A hamstring injury can linger, however. If Martin is a no-go, the alternative might be Chris Harper from the PS. Also, there are three offensive tackles on the PS right now. It might be time to thin the crowd and keep only the top one or two. As the season winds on, BB must consider which roster players still need a significant amount of time in the trainers' room. Those guys may need to be placed on IR so that healthy bodies can be added to the active roster. Hoping Vollmer passes the concussion protocol and Collins licks the virus bug by this weekend. If Cannon has turf toe, he might be lost for the season. Also, Dane Fletcher is eligible to come off PUP. Maybe he can add a healthy body to the LB corps. The Pats are going through their own version of Last Man Standing right now.

McCourty has spent too much time at FS - I really don't think he's an upgrade over Ryan.... maybe over the other guys - then you have a glaring hole at FS.

Unfortunately Chandler has hands of stone.
I know. This is hard to explain? He was so effective in Buffalo? Just hoping he can get some of that mojo back?

Edelman was scheduled to have microsurgery today. I've been listening as much as possible, but nothing has even been mentioned. This type of break can be set and fused in surgery. The foot gets tightly wrapped and the player has to stay completely off the foot for approx. 72 hours. Then the wrap comes off, and a stabilizing wrap is placed on it and a boot is put on the wrap. In about 3 weeks the boot comes off and the foot can be manipulated.
After a week to 10 days, he can start full pressure exercises. With the Bye Week before the playoffs, he'll be ready for the first playoff game.

Not that I ever see this happening and I am pretty sure the Patriots would have to give up the farm for him... Does this now add more fuel to the fire about Johnson? Again, I don't ever see Calvin being in a Patriots uniform.

We're past the trade deadline so this wouldn't happen till next year. I wouldn't do it, even though I'd love to see CJ in a Pat uniform. Instead focus on the backside of this D. The O will be fine. Just need one WR to step up until JE is back. Amazing what they've been able to accomplish with all these injuries. Pats are on a mission.

The Pats need to stabilize the OL first and foremost. Cannon and Vollmer need to come back pronto. They faced a bottom feeder defensively in the Giants and looked like crap... Buffalo is on another level and Denver's defense is at the top of the sack food chain.

Agreed. My point was more how they've been able to win regardless. Even when Seabass comes back they have him on the left side. BB, Josh and Dave G have devised and re-devised a plan that works with TB and their system. All three coaches deserve coach of the year if they continue on this pace.

Yeah this is true it is over, thought they could still work something out? No? I don't think CJ is the answer either... Amendola and LaFell will just have to step their game up and Kembrall Thompkins (isn't this his name) coming back from injury hopefully can do it as well.

There are many ways that the Patriots can get a wide receiver if they really want one. Any team can waive a player and that player can be claimed by another team. Lets say that the Patriots and 49ers agree to a deal. The 49ers wave Michael Crabtree and the Patriots claim him 10 seconds later. Crabtree is now a Patriot. When the season is over, the 49ers trade Joe Staley (OT) to the Patriots for their 2nd and 4th Round draft picks and next years 3rd and 7th.The trade is actually Staley for the 3rd and 7th and Crabtree is for the 2nd and 4th.

There are hundreds of players playing in Canada and practice squads that the Patriots can lure also. Practice squad players are not 100% protected because they are not officially on the "team".

First off this would be collusion. Both teams if caught with any kind of evidence that they had done something like this would be in huge trouble. Second depending on the player cut they would be subject to the waiver wire claim list where the Patriots are dead last on that list. So the chances of a top player making it that far down the list would be very slim. I just can't see the whole cut/trade possibility even coming close to being an option. The Patriots are already being watched like a hawk by the league. You really think they would do something so obvious?

It would most likely have to be bringing somebody else up. That player would most likely just be an insurance piece where the other back ups would move up one spot. So you are still looking at Dobson, Amendola, LaFell, Martin, and Slater being your top-5 WR's.

Injuries suck and I am sorry your team is starting to have them really mount more and more. Honestly this looks like one of those historical seasons that injuries are the only thing that can derail it. I still think even with this injury you guys are the top team in the league mostly because nobody is better at figuring out how to cover for losing an top player than that of BB. He will find a way to keep things going.

Redseat, Kenbrell Thompkins is with the Jets now. The Pats released him earlier this season. You might be thinking of Keshawn Martin who has a hamstring injury and has been limited in practice.

Pats just activated Chris Harper from the PS. Offensive lineman Chris Barker was released so am hoping this means Vollmer and Cannon are ready for the Bills. Would like to see something done about depth behind Butler and Ryan at CB. Coleman and Melvin were toasted pretty good by Manning. Also, I think BB needs to decide this week or next what to do with Dane Fletcher and Chris Jones.

Reports: Julian Edelman Suffered Broken Foot, 'Possible Return For Playoffs'

The injuries just won’t stop for the New England Patriots. Wide receiver Julian Edelman broke a bone in his foot Sunday in the Patriots’ 27-26 win over the New York Giants, FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo first reported Sunday. Edelman suffered a “Jones fracture,” Garafolo specified. The wide receiver, on pace for his best season as a pro, could return for the playoffs, according to Garafolo. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport confirmed Garafolo’s report. Rapoport said Edelman could return before the season is over. The return for a Jones fracture typically is between eight and nine weeks. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant returned from the injury in just seven weeks this season.

This weekend against KC will be 9 weeks. He has been practicing for a month?

Edelman and Brady putting in extra time. Jules will be ready. I expect a big game from him. The more I sit here thinking about it, the more confidence I have in the Pats coming out victorious. In BB we trust. Go Pats. I'll be in Thailand so if I can catch the game I think it will be on around 0430 Sunday morning:gaah:
