Reports: Julian Edelman Suffered Broken Foot, 'Possible Return For Playoffs'

The injuries just won’t stop for the New England Patriots. Wide receiver Julian Edelman broke a bone in his foot Sunday in the Patriots’ 27-26 win over the New York Giants, FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo first reported Sunday. Edelman suffered a “Jones fracture,” Garafolo specified. The wide receiver, on pace for his best season as a pro, could return for the playoffs, according to Garafolo. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport confirmed Garafolo’s report. Rapoport said Edelman could return before the season is over. The return for a Jones fracture typically is between eight and nine weeks. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant returned from the injury in just seven weeks this season.

Need Chandler and Lafell to hold onto balls for sure now. Brady needs to build some confidence with them. Dola will do enough till Edelman gets back.

But damn can they avoid any more major injuries? It's hard enough over coming the deflate gate crap.

Go Pats

Edelman injury is like a knife to the chest. BB will most likely not IR him in the hope he'll be ready for the playoffs. I can see maybe activating Chris Harper as a short term replacement. He was a stud in preseason. Maybe release Coleman or Melvin and have McCourty cycle back to CB. They were both abused during the Giants game. Hopefully, Collins, Vollmer and Cannon will be ready for the Bills game. Dobson was mentioned briefly earlier in this string. I saw the play during the last drive when Brady was nearly picked off. If he could have put a little more air under the ball, Dobson had his coverage beaten and might have gone "all the way".

I thought it was about to happen yesterday.

At SOME point Volmer and those guys may get healthy. That's the best thing for the offense right now.

Give Brady more than 2 seconds to decide the play. Then Lafell and Amendola can be better utilized.

Collins will be back soon and Sheard will get healthier.

It's pretty safe to say he definitely the best CB the Patriots have. ;)

I think he can have his bad moments but overall he a footballer who makes a ton of great plays.

He's a tough little dude

Manning badly exposed the Pats' lack of depth at CB. They have four very young, inexperienced players there. True, Butler and Ryan are basically solid but the reserves are vulnerable. Maybe now is the time to sign Cortland Finnegan to see if his veteran savvy can overcome the fact that his best days are behind him.

Coleman was Eli's beotch most of the game.... he was picked on, and rightly so. After Butler and Ryan, it's the clearance rack back there.

I'm not sold on Ryan. I don't think he's a starter anywhere else? I like the idea of trying Mcourty at DB again. Or I'd even give Fannigan a shot. I don't care for his attitude. He's not the player he once was. But can he be worse than Ryan? Somehow this D finds a way to keep the Pats in a game? Goon on ya Mr. Patricia.
