Maybe not the decision, but he can affect the process.

We're waiting on Fangio. He has several offers and wants to be a head coach in the near future. He is worried his reputation and head coaching chances could take a hit if he comes to D.C. and the defense plays poorly due to the lack of talent on the roster.

Fangio is till the Skins top choice and they feel they can wait on him because they have Barry in pocket. Skins are also a little worried about hiring Fangio, getting his system in place and then losing him in 12 months to a head coaching gig somewhere.

About 20 to 30% chance he is our next DC.

Hell, there is a better than average chance he could end up a HC candidate here. Gruden goes 4-12 again and he may be gone.

And don't think Gruden doesn't know that. Gruden: "I really like that Barry guy."

I like Schwartz a lot too. He's that arshole we need in that building. I guess the Skins are set on running a 34. We requested an interview. I would revisit that. I actually am starting to like Schwartz more than Fangio. Not sure, but he appears younger, and I don't see him getting a HC job within the next 2 years. I think this team would do fine in a 43.

I think Fangio would work out for the Redskins. He and Donatell did an incredible job in SF and most 49ers hated seeing both gp.

I am not a big fan of Chris Russell, especially for his love of Haslett, but he is right on here.
Why would we hire Fangio if he would leave in 12 months and take his staff with him.
We probably have to move on from him and find a young DC that is willing to stick around for a few years. One that can bring innovation and motivation to this unit.

Too bad. Fangio is one of the best.

Remember, we can always refuse requests to let him interview. It happens all the time, even in promotion situations. Of course you let him know ahead of time that this will be the response. You don't wnat to invest time and money in a coaching staff only to have them walk after a year or two. This may very well be the sticking point. He wants the out and we refuse to give it to him for at least a couple of years.

If that's the case and chris Russell is right, I would pass on this guy also. We need stability and consistency for once. We don't need a DC who is taking this job as a holding place until he can get something better.

Report could be right but I would want more sources than Chris Russell. He is wrong more often than he is right.

Jason LaConfora has been wrong countless times when he was the Redskins beat reporter with the Washington Post. Other than Nunyo Demasio, who couldn't understand the cap when the cap was a hot-button issue just about everyday when he was reporting on the Redskins, he was one of the worst when it came to accurately reporting what was going on in Ashburn. Let's hope that's changed.

Interesting cheat on Russell's last tweet in the Hogs Haven article. It states that it's "Not accurate" on JLC report of Fangio/Donatell to #Redskins in AM." The temporal qualifier "in AM" may be the cheat clause that may validate Russell's take since, if Fangio and Donatell accept in the PM, he wasn't wrong with his reporting of the issue. While this may sound like mind-numbing hair splitting, Russell has been known to pull this type of shenaningans in the past.
