Miles Mikolas is getting the start in Game One of the NLDS on Thursday.
Mikolas was originally scheduled to start against the Cubs on Sunday, but he was moved off that game for Jack Flaherty. Instead, he'll get the ball in Game One on Thursday, and he'll square off against Dallas Keuchel in Atlanta.

Flaherty is the clear best pitcher on the Cardinals right now. Not having him for game 1 is expected but still not ideal.

Mikolas splits are much better at home and much better during the day. Teams are jumping on his pitches early in games and early in counts and he is having issues with the Home Run ball because of it. As such, he has seen a regression from last year but he has been just a hair bit better down the stretch.

Definitely the starting pitcher of a team that was a hot mess just trying to make the playoffs.

yeah on paper it looks like the Braves should win this one easily enough but the favorite doesn't always win in these series. Plus the Cardinals always have some bullshit up their sleeves like David Freese playing out of his mind in the postseason. Is that dude with the mullet on the playoff roster? (Harrison Bader). I could see him coming in and hitting and a few bombs in the postseason. They are a scrappy bunch, those Cardinals. They are not to be trifled with in October.

Momentum is your starting pitcher.

Cards barely missed the playoffs last year because the Brewers had the best hitter in baseball. This year we knocked out the Cubs. The Cardinals aren't an elite team but I definitely wouldn't call it luck or voodoo if they manage to beat the Braves.
