It's gonna come down to Soto and Acuna. Right now, I lean towards Soto since he has shown to have better plate discipline throughout the season. Acuna has started taking his walks here lately, but he went fishing a lot early on.

I'm not a big believer in WAR, but Acuna has a 3.1 WAR to Soto's 1.9.

I'm assuming that's baserunning and defense.

If the season ended today, complete toss-up IMO. I've always said that WAR isn't a be-all, end-all stat; it's just a discussion starter. Soto has a 2.5 fWAR in 332 PA while Acuna is at 2.6 fWAR in 304 PA. Ironically, they have identical wRC+ (in my opinion, the single best offensive statistic) at 149. If they qualified (which they don't, not enough PA), they'd have the 10th and 11th highest wRC+ in all of baseball.

What's funny is that they've taken exact opposite routs to get to that 149 wRC+. Soto has a .411 OBP/.524 SLG; while Acuna has a .359 OBP/.575 SLG. OBP is roughly 1.8 times as important in creating runs as SLG, but it evens out between Acuna and Soto.

Overall, I think a 2B with a 149 wRC+ is much more valuable than a corner outfielder with a 149 wRC+, so I'd give it to Acuna today. But I'd be fine if it went either way. Maybe they'll differentiate themselves from each other as the season comes to its inclusion.

Acuna is a corner outfielder(well, he's a center fielder playing left field). I think you got him confused with Ozzie in the last paragraph.

It's going to be a very close vote but I'm going with Soto.
