That's strange, I thought they let Richards go because of cap/salary concerns. I'm assuming if they are moving a high pick, they are going to want a nice roster player who will probably be tied with some salary coming back. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Gogo could use a nice security blanket so he can run amok in the offensive zone, Regehr for the Star's 1rst? (fuck dallas :D)

The rumour mill is going crazy in Calgary, I think anybody not named Iggy is available.

/That includes Kipper, which shocks me. The guy is still a top 10 goalie in the league in my opinion.

Brad Richards says "FUCK DALLAS"

Lebrun:Just spoke with Joe Nieuwendyk: says he was told today by Brad Richards' agent Pat Morris that they are going to July 1 and won't waive NMC

I agree. Poor guy needs some goal support and a backup who can play 20-25 games a year.

big difference in getting a $2mill player who will pot 15 goals, and signing an 8 year deal to a franchise player.

ouch. that is a kick in the nuts.
why should he care if his negotiating rights are bandied about for the next week.
of course, given his insistence all along to hit July 1, only a moron would give any assets for those rights..... hang on - Glen Sather on line 2.

Right, I guess in my mind you either give the big bucks to the proven franchise player, or you hit the mini-rebuild and keep your first rounder. I know it's not the deepest draft, but would you move a first rounder for Matt Stajan or Jiri Hudler or some marginal player? Especially if you were trying to save money.

the article says he's looking at moving down.
so, trade the #14th for a lower 1st round pick and a 3rd rounder or something.

costs no money, and gets another prospect int he pool = meh.

I'm wondering if this isn't specifically related to who they want to draft, like they're really high on someone who will still be there in the late 20's, but not the next round so might as well.

I guess if I wasn't an idiot I would have read the article, huh?
