I really don't think either side can claim the "goto the KHL" bunch. If they were siding in favor of the NHL or the NHLPA then that is how they would have voted. They probably just don't care who is right and are sick of all the drama. Either that or their selection might be based on the fact that they don't like Kovalchuk and/or the Devils, and has nothing to do with the principle.

Yeah but if you don't add those 10 votes to the NHL, his argument looks bad. I mean, he hasn't let facts get in the way of a good argument through the rest of the thread. Why start there?

Oh no I'm being smug again. I'm gonna be the first poster with a negative rep power at this rate...

Ok maybe that was a little harsh. Elnino82 hasn't been completely ignoring facts in the thread. I still think it's ridiculous to neg rep someone for being "smug" in a response to a post in which you insulted him, but that's no reason to be mean in return.

*blubbering*

I'm sorry I called Elnino82 a moron too. Well, not really, but still. No need for it here.

Just speaking for myself, but I voted KHL because my "sick of it" meter is off the scale, but in order for that to happen the contract has to be ruled invalid and I think it should. So that puts me on the NHL side. From what I understand the verbage in the CBA allows for it...FWIW.

Are you a broken record. We get it I agree, but in the end it will hurt fans. The fact that the league is attempting to stop it is a good thing. If they are using terms in the cba for circumventing the intent then I applaud them for getting rid of shit contracts and I hope it works. As should every other fan of hockey.

So this is an insult, where I am clearly agreeing with you? As I had throughout the post, I never said the NHLPA couldnt win or the league should have done this on the other contracts.

fwiw TSN has a similar poll up today.

Who do you side with in the Kovalchuk grievance (with 11,000 votes):
The NHL - 48%
The NHLPA (Kovalchuk) - 21.1%
Both parties are at fault - 30.7%

Whether or not we can agree at which side will win, what will happen to The Devils should the NHL win? And how far will this set the NHL back if the NHLPA wins?

I put in my vote for the NHLPA.
I am basically in complete agreement with John, Destroyd.
While I am glad the NHL showed some balls, I am worried about the future ramifications if the NHL takes the ball and runs with it about keeping control over the contract signings and not necessarily fixing the loophole.
I do not want this precedent to be set.

I doubt that the NHL will try to hit the Devils with any kind of penalty except a voided contract if they win. If they try to take away any cap space or draft picks, I hope they get crucified.

If the NHLPA wins, I don't think it sets the NHL back, I think it just forces them to not agree to such vague wording in the next agreement and close the loophole with wording not opinion.

I'll start taking the NHL league office a little more seriously when they stop owning a NHL team. This is just Bettman throwing a temper tantrum, nothing more.

The NHL may not have a choice. The arbitrator can assign penalties to either side when he makes his ruling.

I agree that this is really about the next CBA more than about the current one.

LOL no the broken record part is, champ. Calling someone a broken record suggests they are repeating the same thing over and over. I was not. Each post I had served a different purpose. I offered to explain it to you, but you got all upset an what not. It's insulting to my intelligence to question whether I'm a broken record. Of course, I didn't find it too offensive. Warranting of a snide comment? Sure. What would you expect? Whenever I throw a jab at someone, I surely am not surprised if they get defensive. It's still hilarious that you felt the need for to neg rep someone for being "smug," especially in a post that is responding to you being a a bit of a prick.

Now, no need to highjack this thread any more. If you have any more issues with me, handle it like a man and neg rep me some more.

Maybe this is why people dont own their neg reps, it looks like some people turn to childish name calling when they find out who neg repped them.
