NHL Stars Debate the Headshot Ban

In interviews conducted before training camps opened Friday, 17 of the N.H.L.’s top players, in New York as part of the league’s news media tour, were asked whether they favored a full ban on head contact. Seven said yes; four said no; six said they were not certain.

Whoever opposes the headshot ban should be clubbed over the head with a hockey stick. Then see if they have enough sense left to change their mind.

Yeah I don't get Doan's stance. Is it that hard not to target the head? I mean it's one thing if a guy has his head down & as a guy goes for a hit he moves. It's another thing when a player is going for a headshot.

From what I took from Doan's interview was that he doesn't want it to turn in a penalty frenzy. He's not opposed to banning targeted headshots, just incidental contact which is at the discretion of the league. I don't agree with him, but I can understand the point of view.

Maybe Doan is still pissed about getting a 3-game suspension for his hit on Dan Sexton last season.
