With more NHL players suing the league for concussions, we're well on our way to catching up to the NFL in that regard.

According to a TSN's Rick Westhead article, the latest lawsuit claims NHL officials are aware of the dangers of head trauma but downplay those risks. Former players charge the league markets and profits from extreme violence.

I say, let's get rid of the Robocop equipment (rigid shoulder and elbow pads) and we'll see head injuries decrease dramatically.

Does the NHL have the will to do it? Don't think so. Only when it stars costing them millions in compensation will they see the light. Until then .... bring on lawn bowling! :bawling:

Drop the trapezoid too many defenseman getting teed up in the corners. Let the goalie move the puck if he chooses too

I agree about equipment. Hockey players should wear padding without the armor (except cups). We see guys barreling into the boards at full speed to make big hits because there is no physical consequence to themselves. If padding is padding and not armor big hits and whiffed hits might sting a little more to themselves. When they realize they're going to hurt themselves, they're more likely to take a little steam off the hit.

Allowing a bearhug into the boards might also help. At least a bearhug ensures a guy's elbows are below a player's head and shoulders are perpendicular to the head.

Yep. More protection has equaled a sense of being bullet proof. Wasn't the intent.

You do understand the very real possibility of severe shin bruising occurring in a game of lawn bowling when a bowl goes awry, don't you? You might want to be a little more responsible in your recreational activity recommendations.

Look at you polite hockey fans!

Any discussion about concussion lawsuits on the NFL board immediately turn in to political poop flinging.

Good on ya!

That's because there are no armchair lawyers in hockey.

I think.

So holding would be acceptable,
this will go over great with the trap teams
