He wasn't very good in Vancouver, but Vancouver was also very bad in general, nobody could do anything because of covid protocols so no real chance to enjoy his time there, and half the team almost died. Probably better for all if he moved on.

His contract also sucks - 4 years left at $6 mil for a guy who did underperform. I'm surprised Winnipeg was willing to eat it all because Benning was obviously in a corner.

Legitimately forgot the whole near death thing…ooof.

Assuming Hakkarainen isn't going near the NHL next season it's basically loaning him to Chicago's AHL team. Not uncommon.

My parents are in Orlando, and I visited during the Finals. Passed a dude at Starbucks in a Bolts jersey, said “hey, go bolts!” to be nice. He stared blankly at me. You’re…you’re in the jersey?

Encountered a person wearing a Lightning Cup Shirt in a Zaxby's. I congratulated him on the cup. Mentioned I was from Columbus and he said "we don't like you very much". To which I replied that he should be happy we pissed them off into two cups.

Just today before coming home, I was in a shop that was selling TB Lightning shirts. They were hanging above a shelf of random hats. I said to my wife "Figures even the shirts would be over the caps". I heard someone laugh and when I looked up, they were wearing a Red Wings shirt.



But still, fuck all of Florida's people.

I’m mildly annoyed with the loopholes the Lightning continue to utilize. I mean, they have every right to. Just figure the NHL would stop these deals at some point maybe? I guess perhaps they’re too vital to the economics of the league, but…ew.
