Do you think the NHL teams should be required to report the actual injury like the NFL does?

I hate this "lower body", "Upper body" crap. The NFL has strict rules on injury reports and it seems to work well for them. I even like the probable, questionable or doubtful status they must report.

Esp with fantasy leagues as popular as they are now.

Even though the NFL has better standards laid out for injury reporting, it doesn't always work out that way. Pittsburgh and New England are perfect examples of how coy the head coach can play when he's reporting his injuries.

Although, I wouldn't mind if the NHL required teams to elaborate a little more on particulars.

Some coaches will always try and screw with the system but if i'm not mistaken BB and the Pats got a pretty hefty fine a couple years ago for doing it.

The only problem that I would have with that is this:

In hockey and football, players play through pretty significant injuries. Thay are also padded up so th injuries can be well hidden. If the other players knew exactly what was injured they could focus on that and cause significant other injuries. This would make the players less likely to be willing to play with significant and drugged up injuries for fear of having other players hack at the injury and try and take advantage of it and potentially cause more serious damage. Players regularly play with broken hands or fingers, feet and even fibulas. A hack to this area could be devestating, and the chance of that happening are much less if it is not seen as a weak area.

I agree with Forty. There are too many opportunities in a hockey game for an injury to be exploited. I'm fine with the current system, even though it's frustrating from a fan's perspective.

yea no doubt. if they took the nfls rules it would only be hurting the players. the only ones it would be helping is the fans. if a player risked somebody taking advantage of his injury just so i would know what was wrong with him then forget about it. most of the time we all know what is wrong with the player though. it really would not help anything to tell the injuries.

Given that the gambling interest is the prime motivator behind the NFL's strict injury reporting rules, I really don't have a problem with the ambiguity used by NHL teams.

lol It's "tuna town" and yes, I missed the first 10 minutes because I was banging the box..sweeping out her chimney....stretching that leather..bumpin uglies..dipping and diving...shaking the sheets...cracking the nut...getting some on the hang low...giving the dog a bone...shucking the oyster...putting some beef in her taco and riding that beef bus to tuna town.

:D
