Approved but the council slapped every single sports fan in the face with their comments on the arena being for the Seattle Storm and cutting Leiweke off when he talked about the NHL. I'm still wondering how it's going to work when the city has a deal where the Storm play rent free.

Meh they're just being idiots. An NHL team will blow the Storm out of the water when it comes to revenue. An NBA team even more so. I wonder if it will still be "the Storm's arena" then?

I'm just wondering more how the NHL team is going to be cool with splitting revenue 3 ways yet the Storm have a contract with essentially rent free but keep a the revenue with the city.

Good call. Outside of watching during the playoffs when it’s more accessible, I havent followed the NHL since I was a kid.

It’s tough when there’s no team in your market and you just get whatever random game is on the Canada channel. Gonna have to make a point to do it though.

Problem with Durkan is she is so stupid that she signed the MOU saying construction can only begin when the team is awarded and is begging for some guarantee. Demo is set to begin Saturday after the basketball game but because she is an idiot it is illegal to start construction. Already off to bang up start.

They approved it, but the story in the times said even with the approval the MOU and the approval is based on being awarded a team. Seattle isn’t technically awarded a team. I guess I’m not 100% but if they start construction Saturday the city is open to a lawsuit according to the Seattle Times article I read.

The soccer fans come out in force because of the location the stadium is in. Somehow all of the passionate fans went from 2,000 fans where the NHL arena is going to 40,000 in the stadium district. Same base but in the stadium district you can tailgate, park and have access to the freeway.
