Maatta is an advanced statisticians dream. 20 years old, first game back in 2 weeks after having a tumor removed, and the dude decides to put on a clinic out there. Only one period, but there's nothing this kid does that surprises me anymore.

MAF with his fourth shutout of the young season. I think the new system is helping him. .929sv% helps too.

Patrick Kaleta, a healthy scratch...because he's snowed in.

He lives in the Southtowns - the southern suburbs of Buffalo. My parents also live in the Southtowns and told me they have somewhere between 4 and 5 feet of snow.

With another foot+ on the way.

...I'll stop complaining about today's windchill now.

Good game Pix and other Penguin fans. Looks like I picked a bad week to stop sniffing glue.

The one guy who had a great game was Jiri Sekac. Kid was everywhere. That was pretty much the prototype of a game that Johnston wants from the team. They limited shots on goal (although probably too many odd man opportunities), MAF made a few great stops and all the ones he should have, took the lead and put a dagger in on the PP. But honestly, only guy that stood out on MTL was Sekac, and I admit...I'd never heard of him until now.

List of Nashville Predators without a point tonight: Olli Jokinen, James Neal, Anton Volchenkov and the goalie. That's it.

and Archie was the Sabres back up tonight!

Well, that was an unexpected two points. As for the shootout winner tonight...

Florida beat them 6-2 on Sunday. Have they played that many games since or did the Panthers manage to score 4 OT goals? ;)

6 of their last 7 perhaps?

Yeah, forgot about that one - one of those many empty seats on Sunday was me.

Instead of 6 of their last seven, I'll go with one of their last one just to be different.

Buffalo getting shellacked by a blizzard right now, how many turnout?

Official attendance was listed at about 6200. The lake effect snows around Buffalo can be super-regional, so the area around the arena and north of the city had very little snow, while they had 4+ feet to areas in the south and east.

But hey, the 4-1 win over San Jose is nice.

Also this:

The players all made it with the exception of Angola native Patrick Kaleta, who still lives in the Southtowns. Trainer Tim Macre, massage therapist Chuck Garlow and director of media relations Chris Bandura were also snowed in. So was vocalist Doug Allen, as the two anthems were played solo via organ.
