NHL player agent Don Baizley passes away

RIP Don, you were one of the best. Funny that Allan Walsh chimed in, he's about as far removed from Don Baizley as you can get.

My thoughts go out to Mrs Baizley.

I knew Don from when he was twelve years old. I refereed his games when he played hockey from Pee Wee up through Jr. Then he became an outstanding Player Agent. The last time I saw and spoke with him was in 2007 at the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame inductions. He was a great guy.

He orchestrated my favorite free agent signing when he brought Kariya and Selanne to the Avalanche under a $7 million package deal that guaranteed Kariya would go from RFA to UFA the next season. A smart cookie, that one.
