They had 1 more time-out left so they could still have gone for the FG if they converted, but it was only going to be a 34 yard attempt to start with. 2 or 3 yards closer wouldn't have made a difference. It was only going to be worth it if they were going for the endzone. The Saints were unlikely to let Barkley sweep left for a TD.
