11 first downs the whole game and 1/14 on third down conversions. Wow. Defense really does win championships.

I wish our 1/13 on third downs in the 2011 NFCC would have been good enough to win. 15 first downs and two passing TDs with no INTs compared to the Broncos' 11, 0 TDs and 1 INT, but two punt fumbles killed us. Our team should have been able to do what Denver did without their QB doing much. (I do give credit for the Broncos first drive, but we also did score two TDs early as well.)

Happy for him too. Ironic he won a ring at Levi. He didn't contribute at all, but he was part of the team. I think it was the first time that the stadium was at full capacity. They always say "sold out" but the last few home games were an embarrassment. No one wanted to watch that crap on the field.

I wonder if they would get any more people to show up if they had given free/discounted parking (maybe for car-pools), buy one get one hot dog free, and same for drinks? That way, it would make those who bought tickets already to come and maybe get a second hot dog or drink and make the stands look fuller. If it rained, buy ponchos. Yes, I know, still traffic and a bad team, but get something more than nothing.

Rarely do I feel like one person or one or two plays cost us a game, but the Kyle Williams game is an exception.

Well, it was the timing. If we had been toe-to-toe the whole game or not winning with the game plan and defense we brought into the game, then yeah, I would put it on the offense's third down conversions. Obviously, we wanted better conversion rates and scores, but we were f'ing winning the game by not turning the ball over and pressuring Manning. I wanted more of an aggressive playcalling in OT, but with Brett Swain? I don't know, there is blame everywhere - a better QB, a better WR, etc. would have done better, but seriously, we would have been in the SB with the team we had if not for the timing of the fumbles. Even with one fumble, I don't see why we weren't capable on the last fumble drive to pull a Saints-like ending. Or if they had properly let us recover the Giants fumble without blowing the whistle early...

The Giants proved the following regular season that they knew how to play defense against our offense.

Yes, understandable indeed, but unacceptable!

Well what can you do? What is done is done. The poll was regarding the Super Bowl and there is no way to make that kind of leap. Just hoping this team can be competitive this year and start fixing some of the issues from last year. Hopefully Baalke has a better year with the draft,

I was hoping with Kelly as the new coach that the Niners would have a little bit better odds. Like I stated on a prior post, an 8-8 record would be a big improvement. Hopefully the offense will be ranked around the middle of the pack. I agree that the team needs to be more competitive next year especially against the Cardinals and the Seahawks. Baalke needs to hit on this draft. Not only the Niners are lacking talent, they don't have any depths. At least I can root for the Warriors and baseball season is coming soon.

Better odds to win the super bowl? IDK. That is such a huge leap from where the team was last year to really improve the odds. New coach and staff with a lot of changes coming.
