Landry's hit on Williams could be a factor. However, they are different plays. If they fine a player 24K for a blindside hit then that means next time they'll throw the book at him? You could be right. That could have been there thinking.

The League fined Jarvis Landry $24,309 twice. Once for celebrating a TD. They claimed he grabbed his crotch. It looked to me like he was clinching his fists and flexing. The second fine was for slamming his helmet on the sideline after his TD. To put this in perspective Roughing The Passer which is one of the steepest fines you can get costs a player $ 18,231.

Does anyone else think that Landry being fined that much is ridiculous?
Rappers grab their crotch all the time and get paid for doing it. :rolleyes2:

M Floyd gave a blindside hit to Lippett on Sunday. It was just as violent as the Landry play. The difference was Floyd didn't hit Lippett as high. Is it possible that Landry inadvertently hit Williams too high? I watch Landry every week. He plays with a lot of emotion. He is a great competitor but he is not usually a cheap shot type of player. The game was 8 weeks ago. Has he had any penalties like that since then? I can't think of any since then.

The difference was that Landry's shot was a clean head shot that sent the DB to the hospital with head an neck issues. Landry also launched.

Floyd's hit was shoulder to shoulder, Lippett finished that game and Floyd did not launch.

Big difference.

Reasonable. I just think players can disagree with something without acting like they are oppressed and representing a noble cause against a horrible injustice in the world. It's being fined for grabbing your junk on TV.

But in regard to roughing the passer, that's worse than any celebration. People like to lament on how you can't hit QBs anymore but they get hit hard legally, get the hits even if the penalty and fine is enforced, and would cry foul or at least suffer if their QB were knocked out. Do I care about not being able to hit the other QB hard or seeing the game change more than I care about losing my QB? I guess it depends on the QB and the team I have.
