Allen and Gibbs heavily inflated those win totals. Haven’t been able to sniff that two decade run of success in the past 30-plus years.

This is an interesting piece, but history explains it better than taking it at face value especially since time and place are major factors in this ranking. The numbers suggest that a higher number means more success, but that isn't the case here when put into the proper time each team has been in the league. Here's that history...

  • 1920: The Arizona Cardinals were the Chicago Cardinals from 1920 until 1959, then they moved to and played in St. Louis until 1987. The team moved to Phoenix from there and was known as the Phoenix Cardinals, until 1993 when it took its present name.
  • 1921: The Green Bay Packers entered the league.
  • 1922: The Decatur (Chicago) Staleys of the APFA became the Chicago Bears.
  • 1925: The New York Giants were one of five teams admitted to the NFL in 1925. The other four (the Pottsville Maroons, the Detroit Panthers, the Canton Bulldogs, and the Providence Steam Roller) didn't survive. Providence lasted the longest, folding in 1931.
  • 1930: The Portsmouth Spartans were sold and moved from Ohio to Detroit on June 30, 1934, after four years in the NFL. They're now the Detroit Lions.
  • 1932: The Boston Braves relocated to the District of Columbia on July 9, 1932, and became the Washington Redskins a year later.
  • 1933: The Philadelphia Eagles, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Cincinnati Reds came into the league in 1933. That particular Cincinnati team didn't survive, folding a year later. The Pirates would become the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Eagles and Steelers would briefly become the Steagles in 1943 when they merged for one year after losing so many players to the military during World War II.
  • 1937: The team now known as the Los Angeles Rams has bounced all over. They entered the league as the Cleveland Rams before moving to Los Angeles in 1946, then to St. Louis in 1995, and finally back to L.A. in 2016.
  • 1950: The Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers entered the NFL in 1950.
  • 1953: The Indianapolis Colts entered the league in 1953 as the Baltimore Colts, then moved to Indianapolis in 1984.
  • 1960: The Dallas Cowboys arrived in the NFL.
  • 1961: The Minnesota Vikings entered the NFL.
  • 1966: The Atlanta Falcons made their debut.
  • 1967: The New Orleans Saints joined the NFL.
  • 1970: This was an eventful year. The American Football Conference was formed on May 17, 1969, prompting the entry of several teams when the American Football League merged with the NFL: the New England Patriots (previously the Boston Patriots), the Buffalo Bills, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Denver Broncos, the Houston Oilers, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets, the Oakland Raiders, and the San Diego Chargers. The San Diego team moved in 2017, becoming the Los Angeles Chargers. The Houston Oilers relocated to Tennessee in 1998 and played for two years as the Tennessee Oilers before becoming the Tennessee Titans in 1999. Also in 1970, the Super Bowl Super trophy was renamed the Vince Lombardi Trophy on September 10, a week after Lombardi's death from cancer at age 57.
  • 1976: The Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered the league.
  • 1995: The Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars became NFL teams.
  • 1997: The Baltimore Ravens joined the NFL.
  • 2002: The Houston Texans replaced the departed Houston Oilers as an expansion team.

I'm still not posting my predictions about the upcoming season, but I will state this... If they add another top-flight receiver before the season begins like an Aiyuk or Higgins, they will compete for the division title. They will be far worse without such additions.

far worse without BA or Higgins? cmon now. If JD is as good as advertised, we will be in great shape.

Yep far worse, because less than a division title push is just that. JD won't be the issue, the supporting cast will be because outside of McLaurin, there's hope and little else.

If JD isn't the issue, we will be fine in what we have.

Defensive teams will take Terry out as much as they're able to and what are the options beyond that?
However, although I disagree, I'll give it to you, that they'll be fine with what they have, but logically wouldn't they be better with better talent at the position?

Hard sell here Sty.
This team is not a reciever away.

Just not..
I'm not suggesting that at all, winning the NFCE has been done by a different team every year since Philly last did it in 2001 to 2004. "Away" to me suggests competing for the SB championship. On that score, I agree with you. Our division is shaping up to be at least the third-best in the conference.
Btw; I am interested in what you mean by "not a receiver away."

we have ? on the O-line, DB's, and QB.

D-Line and LB will be the strength of the team.

Since we had Arrington,Trotter and Armstead, I don’t think we’ve been able to even come close to whispering that here. It will actually be refreshing to have coaches who aren’t actively ignoring the position.

Of course, i would welcome those those Wr's here but there are still other options besides Terry. If Dotson can cure his drops syndrome, he will be a factor. If Eckler becomes a big weapon out of the backfield he will be a factor. If Brown can become a legit deep factor that would be huge, that is why he was drafted in the 3rd round. Anything from Luke would help. Supposed to have great hands.

Ertz and Sinott we will have to see.

Plus, Stroud did it with Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Robert Woods, and TE Schults. Not a superstar cast by any means. Stroud went 4100 yards 23Tds and 5 Ints. Plus 3 Td's on the ground.

If JD is anything close to that we should be fine.

The most important thing that you wrote is... "IF"
That's one helllava way to go into a season, especially one as important as this one is to everyone involved.
