It's a little hard to believe that after that terrible stretch we went through that we're only 4 games back, and 1 back from the last wildcard spot. If Joe would've closed it out last night we'd only be 3 out.

DMN today:

Shin-Soo Choo dislikes designated-hitter work, but he asked to start in the spot for the sake of his ailing left ankle. Choo said there was not enough time after a night game for the ankle to respond to treatment. That could keep him out of the lineup Saturday, when there will be no DH and a noon (EDT) start after a night game

The Rangers won the four-game series without hitting a homer, and for the second consecutive game a rookie drove in the winning run.

The strength could be the bullpen, if right-hander Alexi Ogando continues his resurgence as a multi-innings reliever. Ogando (2-2) allowed three base-runners but worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

By getting five outs, Ogando allowed Washington to use the bullpen as he wanted for the final two innings. He got three outs from Jason Frasor, one from Neal Cotts and two from Joakim Soria, pitching on the third consecutive day for the first time since April, 2011, while with Kansas City.

I think Joe was extremely lucky last season to have such a wonderful record - 43 of 46 save opps. And it looks like his luck has run out. It happens to most.

I also think it's going to be interesting to see how Sardinas and Odor do once they're around for a little while and the other clubs get to see them more than once or twice.

Odor better learn to take some balls or he's not going to be seeing many strikes.

Funny little tidbit I just noticed is that all the teams in our division have better records on the road than at home...just found that interesting and unexpected.
