New Ruger Wrangler... perfect first handgun?

The new Ruger Wrangler single action .22 revolver looks like it would be great for new shooters and teaching kids the basics of handguns.

MSRP is $249 but I see them currently going for $165 to $185 at various web retailers.

I'm not sure hand guns are appropriate for the kiddos. I think 22s are fun range guns though.

I love Ruger firearms. I may buy one of these some day to add to the collection, but I own an American Heritage 22/22 magnum revolver that I absolutely love to shoot.
