Redtailed Hawks are native to the MD/VA area and I would not mind that name, I do not think it is going to be the choice though. Maybe the team should be named Turkey Buzzards (also native to the area) since they have played like turkey's for 30 years.

My guess is Dan, Jason etc. have no clue about these hawks.

Just name them Washington Red Hogs atleast that has some history to the team and the fan base would embrace

It has been made fairly clear the military tie is in the name in some regard.

I have never had any faith that Dan would get this right. I can't get a read on Jason Wright. I am not sure if he is stuck doing what Dan wants or just doesn't have a clue.

Washington Red Hogs has history and its military just go with it

What is a hog in the Marines?

When a Marine first checks in to Scout Sniper School he is referred to as a PIG, or professionally instructed gunman. If successful, he will graduate in nine-weeks and will earn the title HOG, or hunter of gunmen. The first few weeks of the course are spent on long-range, known-distance shooting.Jul 11, 2011

not a fan of military stuff , why ? Because the military exterminated the NA and enslaved him so in reality it’s covert racism and hence the redskins name should still be used. How you like that conspiracy BS

That is a stretch to tie Hogs to Marines.

its not a stretch that's what a Hog is when a Marine successfully graduates in nine-weeks will earn the title HOG, or hunter of gunmen
I was in the Navy and around Marines often and NEVER heard that term for Marines, Snipers, SEALs. We'll have to agree to disagree. Hell some of work I do is with the Marine Corps History Museum in Quantico and I have never heard the the term HOGs used in any part of the museum.

Excellent, still never heard the term used in all of my military experience. So I am going to say it is a stretch. I have been in or around the military for 30 years. :noidea:

The same as I say for a military team name. Of course I know the Pentagon is here, but when I think military I do not think of Washington DC.

The reason I do not recognize it is it is a fairly new term uses (as you said for Scout Snipers) in the 26th MEU.

I don't think this fits the history of the Redskins HOGs but here is another military hog .... the A-10 Warthog

I actually saw some cool logos with hawks on them, I wouldn't mind that either
I wouldn't have minded Red Hawks as I could have tied to the area, not the team history. I never thought they would choose it due to the Seahawk name being similar .... and there are 999455 other bird names in the NFL.

I would be good with Hogs but really that is just from the Gibbs era. It has nothing else to do with the team history.
