Hopefully that's the case! Guys are always listed in media guides a little taller - so I'm skeptical. It was mostly a joke, though. I do think Seth is a good recruiter and he gets very good athletes. I do think we're always a bit undersized. Hopefully this big guy from Europe is also pretty good. It would be great to have a functional player over 6'8" and not have to rely on Stone-Hands Davilla

Read a blog entry by DD in the Roanoke Times the other day talking about this kid. Apparently UVa came in VERY late with an offer, which insulted the kid. I think he may have been a bit of a UVA lean/fan??? Apparently they showed very little interest early..until VT, VCU and others offered..Hopefully a good area pickup for VT..

Rustburg forward commits to Virginia Tech - Roanoke.com

I was wrong..Whova didn't come in late..they wanted him to wait until 2013 to enroll. then tried to offer him for '12 after everyone else and their momma offered him a rride. He had offers from VT, UVA, Richmond, VCU, Michigan, and several other Div1 schools.

Wood did not have an offer from UVa. Bennett told Wood that if he would take an official visit to C'ville, that they would extend an offer. Wood never took Bennett up on that.

That's basically the same thing though isn't it?

To an extent. They were still slow-playing him wanting him to take a prep year. Figuratively speaking, you could say that he had an offer, but it wasn't one that was commitable.

And let me make one thing clear; I am not knocking Wood at all. I think he is going to be a solid player, and he should have a good career at VT.

From the article I posted "Wood took two unofficial visits to UVa, which offered him a place in its 2013 class before upgrading the offer to 2012."

I am not a huge fan of DD but when it comes to UVA, he is pretty well in the know. I would say he was offered..too late.

Jeffro,

How tall is he?

I have heard like an 8 inch range, ha!

I honestly don't know. I also have seen various reports about his height. I'd say anywhere from 6'3" to 6'8" is a good guess.

That's the thing though, DD isn't in the know. He gets almost all of his info from other sources and he does not verify anything. His facts are almost always wrong. Just like on the Mario Nixon deal. Everyone and their brother knew that Nixon was at UVa practice with his mother, yet DD insisted that Wynn, Moore and Wahee were there with Nixon.

Sorry Jefro but you are wrong. Wood did have an offer. He was offered after an unofficial to Charlottesville on September 4th. Bennett tried to get him to arrange an official that trip but he declined. And he is 6'7.5" via staff for those questioning. :)
