Nets now want to shop Simmons' expiring deal for any team seeking 2025 cap space, but who will go for it???

2025 FA class is fucking weak...

But here me out, the Nets and Warriors should get on the lines again after already making one deal.

Anyone with half a brain knows that Draymond is not Golden State's future, but unfortunately he has two more years of pointless money left on his deal after this one.

One player who will be a free agent is Minnesota's Julius Randle. GS looks as though they are going to prolong Buddy Hield's career and common logic suggests they can do the same w/ Randle.

So how about Draymond and a filler (Moody, Kyle Anderson, or GP2) for Simmons to create the space needed to pursue Randle?

We all know that Randle is a much better basketball player than Draymond, but unfortunately, Dray's name recog will almost certainly prevent them from considering this particular route...

This new incarnation of the Warriors has shown signs of life, but are still likely (almost certainly) a first round out.

Dumb idea.

Warriors are maximizing every year they have with Steph.

And maybe getting Randle isn’t worth punting this season for because Randle is empty calories. He doesn’t do much to help teams win games.

All those players aren’t worth a shit. Replacing Simmons with Dray isn’t great bc Simmons isn’t reliable. I’ve never been a huge fan of Randle and now look at Minny regressing

The value of that contract is to open up cap space for someone like Jimmy Butler this summer. Miami thinks they have him over a barrel for negotiating a new contract due to a lack of teams with available space this summer, but if a team he wants to go to can clear that cap space...(not sure he's really interested in Brooklyn).

It's still a tough sell, as it would need to be bad contracts (maybe Chicago?) coming back, as otherwise teams would rather get assets when trading big contracts. Plus, to lure someone like Jimmy you need more than just cap space (otherwise Brooklyn would already be a real option).

Yup. Him and Ingram are the prizes

Neither will get the max but could be the missing piece

Ingram is a bit tougher of a sell due to his injury history. He misses at least 20 games a year.

Kyrie, Lebron and Harden could be free agents too. After them, the next possibly interesting one IMO is Miles Turner.

I wouldn't call it terrible, but certainly a game changer. Maybe max contracts SHOULD be more selective. Ingram is a 3rd guy on a championship team, maybe that shouldn't be a max contract situation.

Yeah not sure what Q is complaining about...if the new rules make it so not max-worthy guys like Ingram can't find max deals anymore, that's a good outcome.

Yeah, imo, the issue isn't so much how much the 1's or even 2's are making...but a #3 or lower, shouldn't be getting max deals. If that happened, teams could spend more on role players to make themselves better.

I'd love to see B.I. back with the Lakers...but not on a max deal.

Problem of course, is that owners/teams get desperate and overpay.

Can Ingram be a #2 on a struggling franchise though? Possibly, but he needs to stay healthy (the biggest issue IMO) and have his #1 to show up more than Zion.

With his talent he might be able to be a #2 on a playoff/contending team...but, as you mention, his lack of health is a major concern...especially if the other star(s) have injury issues too. He could be a real nice #3 on the Lakers...but considering his health issues, Lebron not playing in as many games as when he was younger and Lakers fans holding their breath every time AD hits the floor or grimaces...not sure he'd be the wisest option.
