Illinois is another bad offensive line. They can't run block and they can't pass protect. Wes Lunt is not a running QB. Hopefully, the Nebraska defense can exploit all of this. Unfortunately, with no pass rush, Wes Lunt might have enough time to do some damage.

Illinois key offensive players are Wes Lunt, Malik Turner, and Keshawn Vaughn. The only scary one is Wes Lunt because he can fling it and he is a true pro-style QB and can make reads and will throw the ball too many different receivers. If the defense can get to him enough, then it should be game over.

Illinois is bad against the run. Good pass rush. Can be gashed for huge runs. Langsdorf should have a field day. The Nebraska offense is going to roll. The offense we saw at Northwestern is perfect for this Illinois defense.

The crowd will be insane and the revenge factor is there.

Illinois
Offense 92nd
rush yards 157.3
pass yards 222.3

Defense 40th
rush 158 ypg
pass 196.7 ypg
Scoring defense ranked 79

Bad red zone offense
bad red zone defense
bad in punt returns
bad at getting first downs
bad in penalties

Nebraska will score in the 40s, maybe even in the 50s. Illinois might get in the 20s. 48-21

talk about bad punt returns, what about NU? man you'd think we should hire a ST coach or something? (I've heard that joke all weekend on Twitter, but couldn't help but say it again). I just don't get how you go from the way it looked against Oregon to the way it looked at NW. that one time they only had like 6 guys on the field, how does that even happen on ST, shouldn't guys know where they need to be?

it also bugs me that when we play to stop a fake punt that no one at all blocks. i mean how hard is it to hit someone and slow down their progress when it's clear they are not faking it? One unique rule about CFB is that on punts the o-line doesn't have to wait for the kick before going, so if those guys do that it can't be a throwing fake because they would be ineligible men downfield and if it is a running fake, they'll be trying to run into you, so it will be kinda obvious. just hit someone, give DPE some room to return it.

then there is DPE, i don't know if they are just telling him to Fair Catch everything, but there was at least a few times he fair caught it with room to run, sure he didn't have a lot of blocking in front of him, but that shouldn't stop him.

I sure hope they are holding on to stuff for games that matter, like Wiscy, tOSU, Iowa.

as far as Illinois, i agree. this is a game where our DBs will get a real test and our D-line needs to show up. offensively i'm not too concerned.

yeah, this DPE thing is just weird.

even during one of the punts, the announcers even said, well he will have some room to return this..oh wait he called for a fair catch.

I wonder if he is still gun shy from his injury

I talked to a few of the players after the game. While they were loading up at Ryan Field. They said the field was crappy at NW.
